No.3 & No.4 are first floor apartments. No.3 is all on one level.
No.1 & 2 The Old Convent are ground floor apartments. All our apartments have been sympathetically renovated to a very high standard but keeping some of the character and adding modern central heating, insulation and double glazing!
The Old Convent is situated in the picturesque village of Fort Augustus on the southern tip of Loch Ness, which is virtually the geographical center of the Highlands. A perfect base for exploring the spectacular scenery and amenities that the area has to offer.
We, Felicity & Chris are local and live in what was the priests quarters when the building was originally a church and are able to suggest many wonderful day trips combining superb scenic drives and walks, with castles, brochs and ruins that you probably won't find in any guide book.
Fort Augustus is the perfect place to relax with a short walk to the center of the village where you can find grocery shops, butcher, post office, ATM, petrol station and several pubs and restaurants. You can take a boat trip up Loch Ness or simply chill on the canal side watching the boats negotiate the locks!
The Old Convent was originally built as a church in 1842, then converted into a convent 'St Scholastica's Priory' in 1891, the nun's took residence in 1892 until 1922 when the remaining nun's were moved to Holme Eden Abbey. Some of the nun's are buried in the graveyard at Fort Augustus Abbey, half a mile from the convent on the shores of Loch Ness.
We are close to main road with the convent woods to rear giving you privacy, and a fantastic view of golf course and Ben Tee to front.
If you wish to bring your dog please ask first. We accept most small/medium sized dogs but they are not allowed in the bedroom or on the furniture. We do have spare dog towels if needed.
The property is ready for guests arrival from 4pm. We ask that guests leave by 10am on day of departure as we need time to clean for next guests.

Summary: Felicity and Chris were wonderful hosts. They great their guests upon arrival and take them around the flat. They provide a wonderful book and map that tell you things to do and places to visit(things that aren't found online). They have lovingly restored the Convent. They strive to make things better for those visiting their area. We loved it. Our hosts were great, we would definitely stay again!

Summary: Absolutely fantastic property! Perfect for what we wanted and could easily suit anyone wanting a "base" for seeing the local area or anyone wanting a place to spend the majority of the time in. Modern furnishings, yet the apartment still retains a traditional feel matching the exterior of the property. And both spacious and cozy at the same time. We would stay there again without hesitation.

Summary: Great place in great location. Lovely, friendly hosts who had lots of helpful advice about the area and restaurants. Online it did say the apartment had a fire place, however this was not a working fireplace. Place was still lovely to stay in and very clean with well equipped kitchen. Thank you for a fantastic few days in Fort Augustus!

Summary: Great location to see all the sites. Chris and Felicity were fantastic hosts with unbelievable local information for touring. Our apartment 3 was spacious clean and had all the necessities for a fantastic experience. So far it has been the highlight of our highlands trip and would highly recommend this spot.

Fort Augustus was a perfect base for us for touring and walking. Great local pubs and restaurants within a few minutes walk. I highly recommend the Old Convent for the perfect getaway.

Summary: On arrival Felicity showed us around and gave us some good tips for places to visit. The apartment was great and only a 5/10 minute walk to the centre of Fort Augustus. It was warm and comfortable and everything at hand you may need. A fantastic place with friendly people, we will definitely be back.

Summary: The old convent is in all respects a perfect place to stay. The owners (Chris and Felicity) are very kind en helpful. Our appartment (no. 3) was spacious, very clean and fully equipped. Fort Augustus is an ideal starting point for all kinds of activities in the neighborhood (such as Isle of Skye, Eilean Donan Castle, National Park, Inverness, Plockton etc.).

Summary: We've not long returned home after spending 12 nights at The Old Convent and quite honestly wish we could go back tomorrow! We stayed in No 3, a spacious first floor apartment with stunning views from every room. We both spent many an hour sitting by the bedroom window watching the bunnies on the lawn! The accomodation was spotlessly clean and has absolutely everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. It is clear that Felicity and Chris have poured so much of themselves into the renovations. They love the building and it shows! We were lucky to be able to have a nose around the other two finished apartments. All very different but equally beautiful, quirky and sympathetically renovated. We can't wait to see No 2 when it's finished! Thank you both so much for your hospitality! Perfect hosts! Tracey & Richard
