Positive: The communication was very good as soon as we booked this place. Very close to West gate. The overall feel of the place is amazing, beautiful scenery and rooms are amazing. We had an area dedicated to have tea ceremony in our room with a beautiful view. The food was freshly made and absolutely delicious. We also experienced a tea ceremony by a very knowledgeable tea master. Rain was fantastic- helped us book the tickets for the park with the best deal (we couldn’t that online). He also explained the best routes to take. Rain dropped us and picked us up from the park and made the entire trip very easy and comfortable. What a wonderful and peaceful place it is - absolutely loved it.

Property manager Qin Kai was very helpful and he assisted us to plan for the following day trip (including purchasing the tickets in advance). We also had a good time interacting with other staff and the accommodation pets.

Positive: No 5 the Valley is brilliantly located 5 mins drive of the west entrance of Zhangjiajie national park (the hotel will drop off/collect). The view from the infinity pool is incredible. We occupied rooms 4 and 11 which both had stunning valley views. We also had room 5 which is probably considered the best room in the property, but trees blocked the valley view. Our rooms were well appointed and Frankie worked tirelessly to make our stay enjoyable by booking our tickets, organising transfers, sorting laundry etc. Dinners were also very good. Try to book rooms further up the hill as they appear to be newer and better appointed.

Negative: The property isn't great if you have mobility issues - one of our guests uses a wheelchair sometimes and they struggled, but it wasn't impossible. You should also check the location works for you. It's amazing for Zhangjiajie NP, but it's approx 1 hour from the city and 1.75 hrs from Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon. We didn't mind as the national park was our main focus. There are also no other dining options close by - although dinner was excellent.

Positive: The Valley Lodge is a super recovery spot after long days of nature and hiking. They gave us an upgrade to a better room with bathtub on the balcony - which was super cool! Rain always welcomed us at the entrance and helped us with booking tickets for the scenic areas and shuttles. The service was excellent! Also all the other staff was super friendly and attentive. In the evening they sang some Zhangjiajie Folksongs specially just for us. We loved it there and didn‘t want to go - you should stay there for at least 4-5 days to have enough time for the national park, mountains and enjoying the hotel! The food was also really good, especially the hot pot. They also gave us a little tea tasting and you can join some group events in the morning no matter if it is off-season or season time. The view from their heated infinitiy pool was breathtaking and you can easily recharge your energy there. The valley lodge is very close to the entrance for experience the Avatar Hallelujah Mountains and is less crowded than other entrance. We were tthere without a guide and could find everything very easy. Rain brought us directly there and helped us translating at the ticket counter. All over was it one of my best experience there in Zhangjiajie and you will never forget the great service and the breathtaking, amazing views of the national forest. (In 4 days we saw: Avatar Hallelujah Mountains, Tianzi Mountain, Tianmen Mountain, Baofeng Lake and the Glass Bridge)
