Positive: In centre of Ambonnay, many champagne producers within walking distance. Friendly and accommodating staff. Limited dinner menu but very tasty.

Negative: Bed a bit soft

Positive: Basic room and facilities in a very quiet village (limited choices of cafes and restaurants). Whilst basic in nature the friendliness and assistance proffered by our host Lorraine was excellent. The attached restaurant was great, serving wonderful local cuisine at very reasonable prices. Overall a great base to explore the fantastic Champagne region and good value for money

Negative: There is only on-street parking which for us was not a problem as we were lucky enough to find a space right opposite the hotel

Positive: The room was tidy, clean, and welcoming. The bed was very comfortable. The staff very polite, friendly, and kind. When we informed her that the coffee machine wasn't working she made us complementary coffees from the bar and brought them to the room which was really wonderful after a long day's walk. Breakfast was continental, abundant and really good. Sadly the beautiful shower didn't want to hold its head up which was a bit annoying when trying to wash. The towels were barely sufficient for two people (we had to share them rather than each having our own but it's ok we also share them at home) and we had to sacrifice one as bath mat. Couldn't get the tv remote to work, maybe just the batteries needed change. Overall, a warm welcome in a lovely place, a quiet restful night and a good breakfast in the morning.
