Positive: The property is located in a small village in the mountains with a great view from the living room. There are a couple of hiking trails leaving from there. It has all amenities, is very charming, and can lodge the whole family. The owner is super nice - she was flexible to change our booking when my daughter got sick.

Negative: The only thing I would point out is that the property is not well isolated and it gets a bit cold despite the air conditioning (we went in the Fall). It is in the mountains and made of stone, so not so surprising (and not so unusual in Portugal).

Summary: We had a great stay at O Palheiro and I would definitely come back in summer to enjoy the pool :)

Positive: Amazing setting, quirky layout (in a good way) .The bedrooms had their own entrances, so privacy and independence are great for families and groups. There was extra linen and the bathrooms (each bedroom had their own) were well kitted out. Very well equipped kitchen as part of a well considered open plan living area.There's even a separate bar to hang out in!

Negative: The approach is quite narrow and steep which may un-nerve some, but we were in a van and had no trouble turning or parking, so not really a dislike!

Positive: The host was very helpful and always responsive. The house is carefully decorated and very personalized. It is equipped with everything you might need, and some more appliances! Hot showers, with recently furbished toilets.

Negative: When it rains a lot, it’s not so comfortable to have to go outdoors to get to the second room, and the dishwasher is also in a different building from the kitchen.
