Bell Island Cottage is located on the LaHave Islands only 25 minutes from Bridgewater Nova Scotia on the scenic South Shore. You will be on the last Island connected by road on a 3 acre lot with 200+ feet of ocean frontage. The property offers complete seclusion but you are only 5 to 15 minutes away from the following:
- Risser's Beach Provincial Park and Campground
- 1 mile long Crescent Beach
- Petite Riviere Vineyards
- A general store in Petite Riviere which has atmosphere, a fully stocked liquor commission and occasionally local musicians.
- The renowned LaHave Bakery on the LaHave River adjacent to the Cable Ferry which begins your journey to the towns of Lunenburg, Mahone Bay and Chester
- Weekly Farmer's Market
The cottage itself offers ocean views from every room and every bed. Wake up and go to sleep seeing, hearing and smelling the ocean. Completely renovated in a nautical theme mixing tradition with modern comfort. The master bedroom has a 4 poster queen sized bed with fine linens and a high end mattress which will rejuvenate you. The second bedroom has a double bed with a view of Bay Beach on Cape LaHave Island. There is a large living room, full kitchen with a bar seating area looking into a south facing sun porch. All with ocean views so spectacular you will feel like you are on a ship. Three piece bathroom with a tub and shower.
Hop in the 4-5 person row boat, and row to one of the nearby islands to explore one of the many secluded white sand beaches within view of the cottage (boat included with rental). During July - September, even the inexperienced fisher can use the row boat to go fishing for mackerel with the prime locations indicated on a map in the cottage. The fishing gear required is very basic and the owner will be happy to tell you what you will need.
On calm days, one of the most peaceful ways to explore the islands is by kayak. Seals, porpoises, waterfowl, shorebirds, and osprey are often encountered. Kayaks are available at additional cost. Please contact for details.

Summary: The weather was our only problem: foggy at the cottage but great at Risser's Beach. The view is gorgeous, spoilt only by the occasional browsing deer on the lawn! Lovely fresh bread to greet us on our arrival.

Summary: Lovely property in a beautiful area with fantastic views. The owners leave homemade bread and jam to greet you, which were both delicious. We highly recommend this place for a simple, private and rejuvenating breakaway.

Summary: This is our second time staying at this property. Everything is very well thought out and communicated to guests. It's a lovely quiet spot with great views and lots of peace and quiet. Great size for 2-4 people. We would definitely return for a third visit!

Summary: We spent the first week of September at this lovely cottage in such a beautiful location. So peaceful with the most stunning sunsets. Our host was wonderful as well. We will definitely be renting this cottage again when we have the chance.

Summary: I was very satisfied with everything that I found in this rental cottage. The kitchen was well supplied and the interior was well maintained and very comfortable. As with all rental accommodations, there is always room for improvement. With this cottage, the master bedroom was excellent, but the second bedroom could be improved with the addition of a finished closet and dresser. However, the best thing about this rental was the host owner. John went the extra mile to make sure that the renter’s needs were being met. I would welcome the opportunity to return to this cottage, if given the opportunity in the future.

Summary: Beautifully secluded property, with all amenities required for a cottage stay. We had everything we needed to cook at the cottage (including a Lobster dinner). Rented the tandem kayak, and brought SUPs to paddle over the private island out in front of the cottage. 5 mins to a sandy beach, if thTs what you prefer. Everything you need is in Bridgewater (25mins) or a quick pick up of goods (food/gas/booze) at the Petite Riviere general store (7mins). Very well located, about 100mins to Halifax, 45mins to Lunenburg, a short ferry to Ovens Natural and 7 mins to Rissers. You have to visit the Marine Museum and LaHave bakery. We loved this place!

Summary: We loved our stay on the south shore. Great, private little cottage with everything you'd need. Cottage was really well setup, good kitchen equipment, nice beds, good shower. The waterfront isn't swimmable but is still the best part - if you have any interest in kayaking at all then this place is a must, we'll definitely be back when our girls are older.
