Whale watching from the comfort of your holiday verandah! Tavake Oceanfront Villa is a gorgeously decorated fully furnished home on the east coast of Rarotonga in the village of Matavera. It has a massive back yard that meanders to the ocean. If the kids are there, you can go in the other direction to the homes fully enclosed private courtyard/garden. The main living area is very spacious with ample room in the lounge and dining area, and also a generous open plan entertainers kitchen. The kitchen also has a walk in pantry, once the shopping's done, you'll never have to leave.
If you need to work while on holiday, there is unlimited wifi available from this villa to keep you connected.
Past the kitchen, down the hall are where the bedrooms are, the master bedroom is big with sliding doors and views of the ocean and ensuite. Carry on there are the two other bedrooms, one has a queen, one has 2 singles, a media room has a comfy sofa for game time and the common bathroom and shower.

Summary: House was fabulous. Heaps of room for 6 adults. Great having 21/2 bathrooms. Extremely well catered for own cooking facilities if you wanted to do that. Great location. We saw Whales every day from the huge views from the lounge. Plenty of parking for car/s or bikes. Overall brilliant stay. It was our 3rd trip to Raro but first time in a house and we will always book a house in future instead of a resort as we did in the past.

Summary: Very stylish place, lots of space. Large airy rooms, double carport and large section. Close neighbours on one side but basically didn't see them. Beach not good for swimming as the reef is very close but the isolation means the coral is in good condition. Few people on the beach. Desirable to have a car to get to the good swimming spots. We saw whales close to the reef one day, a special highlight! Large hermit crabs can be seen on the section after dark. We also spotted a Frigate bird briefly so were extremely lucky with the wildlife. The house sleeps 6 but there is plenty of room for everyone and the house could have accommodated more people if necessary (in my opinion). The unlimited wifi was much appreciated. Hard to imagine a better place to stay if you have transport. It is clearly a much loved family home built to high standards. It has a full laundry, a large fridge and 2 large bathrooms. We enjoyed our stay immensely and strongly recommend it.

Summary: Pleasantly surprised by the size and openness of the property. The thoughtfulness of providing staples (coffee, milk, bread etc) was appreciated given we arrived at the property at 3:00am and knew we would not have to immediately head out in the morning to get supplies. The communication with the villa owners was quick, informative and very pleasant. I highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a beautiful home in a beautiful location to enable, resilience, restoration and rejuvenation.

Summary: On first entrance it is quite stunning, we enjoyed the private front yard and back yard, and named the geckos that kindly do bug clean up in the evenings. Unfortunately the rainy season can be a rough time of year to visit without AC. The listing states AC which turned out to be a small unit that provided small comfort for one small room. It was difficult sleeping or lounging around the home on muggy days for three girls from a cold climate. Mosquitoes made it difficult to leave doors open for fresh air. Otherwise, we were overly happy with the home and it's generous gifts from the hosts on our arrival. The beach is lovely to listen to but is absolutely not swimmable and can be difficult to walk on due to the coral graveyard. I would recommend this home for friends or family.

Summary: My partner, mother, toddler and I had an excellent time staying at Tavake Oceanfront Villa. It’s modern, stylish, clean and has a spacious layout that made it ideal for our family group. The beach is beautiful although not great for swimming with the reef being so close to the shoreline. However, great for wave watching, crab hunting and we even spotted a pod of whales. We enjoyed the location between town (Avarua) and Muri. There is, in our opinion, the best coffee in Raro, Love Cafe, 200m from the house. I would definitely recommend renting a car for your stay here and then you can explore the island with ease and have your beautiful home to retreat back to. We loved our time here and would love to stay again in the future. Thank you very much!

Summary: We had a wonderful holiday here with our three children (aged 11, eight and six). The house is beautiful and really well set up. The kids loved playing on the beach - building sandcastles and collecting beautiful shells. While the beach is not great for swimming (coral and a bit rocky) it’s great for fossicking and we loved spotting hermit crabs and geckos. We had a rental car which meant we could easily tour the island, hunt out great swimming and snorkeling spots, enjoy great cafes and stock up on groceries. Best. Holiday. Ever.

Summary: Travelling as a family of 2 adults and 3 young children. This property was immaculately clean with ample space. The beach access from the back yard made for beautiful views and easy quick adventures with the kids. Location was good, a close bus ride to Muri Beach. Property owners were amazing to deal with. Would highly recommend this property.
