Waiotahi House | OHIWAHEAVEN True traditional Kiwi Bach Secluded!!

1 Bedroom House in Waiotahi, Ohiwa Harbour

12 minutes drive from Opotiki and 25 minutes from Whakatane, a lovely peaceful and secluded area on the lovely Ohiwa harbour . Very safe for children. Full access to the harbour and channel from the front door. a very good boat ramp only 10 minutes away , leave your boat anchored in the channel for an early start to the fishing out at sea. Great flounder fishing. Large area with ample room for children to play.
The channel between the Bach and the island assures constant water and not hours of mud!!
Please note this holiday Bach may not be suitable for some elderly
Please remove any rubbish.
The Bach will accommodate 4 or 5 comfortably. If you have more people please ask. I do limit the amount of people to typically no more than 6 if some are tenting.
''Dave, we can't thank you enough! Being able to enjoy your little slice of paradise is a privilege for sure. We had a great time and dined on fresh flounder and Oysters daily. This is a great little spot that was very hard to leave after three nights. We were lucky with the weather and that made it even more enjoyable. A big thanks to Ian as well, a very helpful and pleasant gentleman. Thanks again Dave, we will be back!! "
"Words just can't do this place justice so I'm not even going to try and describe it anymore. Give me the option of Hawaii, Rarotonga, California etc... or Ohiwa. I'd pick Ohiwa hands down any day. As a small child I dreamt of a place like this and when we stay here the feeling is just surreal. A huge thank you to Ian once again, your visits are always welcome and it's a pleasure chatting with you. This most recent stay was one of the best weeks of my life. Our whole family loved it. Cheers
Special conditions:

Off the grid, no technology, waking up to a beautiful view of the water, spent all our days outside fishing, picking cockles, kayaking, swimming, drinking next to the fire pit! Felt so good to just enjoy what life was like before technology took over. I have experienced some very bad long drops in the past but I can honestly say, this was one clean and beautifully set up long drop! Husband caught a Kahawai & Trevally! Also caught an eel & sting ray which both went back to fight another day lol. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay! It was great to feel fully relaxed, carefree for a few days ! Thank you so much Dave for letting us experience Heaven on earth in the beautiful
Ohiwa ! Highly recommended! .

Summary: Ohiwa Heaven lived up to it's name! Absolute peace and tranquility, the bach is basic, but we wanted for nothing. Warm, dry, cosy and comfortable. The big window looking out into the harbour is broken and needs to be replaced as it totally ruins the view, this being the only downside though, says it all really.

Summary: Second time staying at Daves, beautiful bach has everything you need. Comfy beds, fridge freezer, tv, oven cooktop. Love the view of the harbor. Caught a small snapper, parore and a couple of flounder on this trip. Absolutely love it here. Home away from home. Great communication from Dave.

Summary: Exactly what it aims to be, a low frills old-school kiwi bach where you can just unplug and unwind! We loved our stay there. Caught lots of fish, saw friendly rays swimming by, made easy trips to a great beach for a swim.

Summary: The quintessential Kiwi bach. A little rugged (which I liked) but quiet, peaceful and great location on the harbour. A shame the main front window looking to the harbour had been broken and patched restricting the view but the Owner said he was in the process of getting it repaired.

Summary: Dave was great host, genuine caring host. Checked in on us, made sure that we were ok, during the approaching cyclone. The bach had a very welcoming feeling. Had everything you possibly needed. Such a cool place to be able to watch your rod and listen to the news on the tv at the same time. Can't wait to stay again. Managed a couples of stingrays, snappers, kahawai too. Absolutely loved it.

Summary: We stayed for our family holiday and absolutely loved it! The Bach is a basic one room Bach, with a kitchen that is well stocked and bathroom with a shower and hand basin, is on rain water tank for water, nothing flash with a long drop toilet but truly kiwi style. If you love the outdoors, peace, wildlife, Bush, harbour life and fishing you will love this spot. We caught lots of fish, got pippies, mussels and oysters in the Ohiwa Harbour. We met some massive stingrays whom came right up to the shoreline. The resident Weka were awesome to watch. The fire pit by the shoreline was a hit with us, we cooked food over the open fire, toasted marshmallows and star gazed for hours. We all slept well. Dave was super friendly and easy to talk with. I would totally recommend this Bach and we will definitely be back! Thanks Dave for having us.
