Summary: Lovely holiday in the quiet, rural, Haute-Vienne. Easy drive to Limoges & close to arboretum, (well worth the walk). Alain was a very friendly host with lots of good information about the area. House full of character and also all the amenities we needed for a wonderful stay.

Summary: Stayed 5 nights in this lovely property in a delightful part of France. The house has a modern kitchen and bathroom downstairs. Upstairs, the bedrooms have modern hand basins and bidets, otherwise everything else is authentically original which adds to the charm. Across the road is the owner's property complete with a very pleasant swimming pool. An added bonus for us was that the owner, Alain, was staying in his house. He is an absolute charmer and very helpful. The only possible downside is that there is only one toilet and it is downstairs. The nearby village is a couple of miles away and has butcher, baker and tabac , bar/cafe and a small convenience store for essentials.

Summary: We had a lovely stay at this quiet cottage. Alain was lovely and nothing was too much trouble. The cottage is well equipped and has everything you might need for a stay. Our son who flies drones had a great time with some excellent footage of the surrounding area. We had a very relaxing stay and would not hesitate to return if we were in the area again.

Summary: We had a wonderful two week family holiday with our boys (6 and 4yrs) in August staying at La Maison d'Auguste. The beautiful old house was spotless and very charming and equipped with everything that we needed. The owners spend the summer in their house across the road and were extremely kind and helpful (but never intrusive). They also have a fantastic swimming pool in their garden which we were free to use whenever we wanted. Thank you Alain and Monique - we hope to return!

Summary: This is a wonderful authentic property, brimming with history and original artefacts. The property has been excellently restored and is extremely clean. Great facilities, which made for a very relaxing, rustic country retreat. The owners live across the road from time to time, are extremely friendly and are very approachable and helpful. They were on hand if we had any queries. The region is pretty, hilly and rural. Our children enjoyed the countryside setting as well as the many trips to St Pardoux Lake, only 20 minutes drive away. Ambazac is also a lovely town only 15 minutes drive. I recommend this property. Many thanks to the owners for a lovely break!!!

Summary: We spent our family holiday at Le Petits Marmiers and loved it. We visited at the end of August 2014 with our two boys (aged 8 and 10). The children enjoyed the swimming pool and being able to ride the bikes (provided at the property) up and down the practically traffic-free road outside. We also rode bikes into La Jonchere Saint Maurice a few times. Further afield (only half an hour's drive) was the Lac de Saint-Pardoux where there was something for everyone - safe swimming in the lake, boats and the amazing Arbres et Aventures. We all appreciated the beautiful house, authentically rustic but beautifully restored with original furniture and features. It was comfortable and well-equipped with a modern kitchen and WiFi. It was clean and welcoming when we arrived. Discovering the region of Limousin was an unexpected bonus. Even though the property is close to Limoges (and very convenient for the airport), it is very rural and a perfect place to get away from urban living. The town of Ambazac is close enough and provided everything we needed without going further afield. Alain was very kind and a helpful guide to the area. Highly recommended - we would certainly like to return.

Summary: We had a great time at Alain's old family home. It is situated in a v. quiet hamlet. The house is very traditional and you have access to a lovely warm pool 30 seconds away in Alain's holiday house garden. If you like rural places (like England maybe 50 years ago); friendly locals who actually smile at your pigeon french, no cars and, above all, peace, quiet a views of fields - this place is for you. Our 3 year old loved it.

Summary: We had a very pleasant stay at Alain's place. Although the weather was still a bit chilly, the fire kept us warm. The house is very old and cosy. Alain is a very helpful man who can tell you a lot about the region and all the things to be done. The place is ideal for family with small children, since there is practically no traffic in the street. We had a great week! Herb

Summary: We spent a wonderful week in this gite. Alain made us extremely welcome and could not have been more helpful. The property is very clean and well-equipped, with a fantastic authentic French feel. It has a wonderful stone bench outside the front door which soaks up the heat of the sun all day - a perfect place to unwind with a glass of wine! The pool is warm, clean and well looked after, and the private decked garden area is a lovely place for BBQs and quiet reading in the loungers. The area contains fantastic lake-beaches - our favourite was Lac St Pardoux, but there are many others. The region is a bit hilly for cycling, but it is beautiful with lovely villages, markets and museums to explore. Highly recommended.
