Positive: A cabin in the woods just up the hill from a glorious glacial lake! Excellent value and convenience for a great and natural location. The rooms in the cabins are simple but modern hotel rooms, with a fridge and other modern conveniences. This is a hotel, not camping. Nothing luxurious, but very comfortable. We liked the fireplace lounge between the rooms, although we weren't sure whether there was a way to make a fire in the fireplace. The main lodge where you check in is especially beautiful and impressive.
Negative: The address provided to us was unclear. You actually have to go to the main building of the Bear Mountain Inn to check in. We didn't know that, so we wasted time driving to the cabin area and then back to the Inn and then the cabin again. We also wish you could see the lake from the cabin — even from the porch, you can't really see the lake through the trees. But this is a minor point, as the lake is a short walk away down the hill.
Summary: Beautiful mountain forest environment, unbeatable price, modern hotel-room accommodations.

Positive: The cottage room was cozy and comfortable. The scenery was beautiful by the cottage. Very peaceful and relaxing.
Negative: The AC unit controller was in the common living room and not in each individual room.

Positive: Great location in green area for hiking trips The room was clean and spacious. Staff very friendly and helpfull. Opportunity for a walk around the lake and to visit small zoo. Nice restaurant available in nearby Mountain Bear Inn.
Negative: Inform guests upfront check-in is at Bear Mountain Inn (2 min drive) and not at the Lodge. We found ourselves at a locked door. It took just a phone call to clarify.
Summary: Enjoyed the stay in a nice a room nearby nature

Positive: Clean, comfortable and very spacious rooms with exceptional views. Super- cozy and rustic,yet modern,decor. In room Keurig coffee maker, amazing TV,very comfortable pillows and beds as well as a great sitting chair. Staff in the dining room were all amazing! -personable, efficient and professional. Mid- week afternoon tea was exceptional and very reasonably priced compared to elsewhere. The quality of our dinner was 5/5 stars- so delicious. We got the salmon and the organic chicken dish with a side of “not to be missed” mashed potatoes. Both entrees were very tasty and beautifully portioned,presented and cooked. The bar and tavern area also offers awesome lunch items and full bar. Go for the French onion soup. I had it 2 times! The grounds offer so much- hiking, ice skating , a surprisingly awesome zoo and an outdoor sort -of -archaeological and historical museum area with very professional exhibits and spectacular views of the mountains and the Bear Mountain Bridge as you stroll though paved paths in a nicely forested park like area. Overall a wonderful winter getaway with so much comfort and Nature to offer.
Negative: Better / more breakfast options in the main lodge dining room besides brunch and grab and go options. For example a reasonably priced buffet or blueberry pancakes or eggs combos or oatmeal and fruit etc.
Summary: Quintessential mountain getaway so close to New York City
