Positive: The accommodation is really what you're looking for as a traveler if you don't like mass tourism. It's truly paradisiacal, only on weekends it gets full with Carioca tourists. There are secluded beaches and short hiking trails that invite you for a day trip. Otherwise, the area is very safe, family-friendly, and has everything you need for living. I was invited to have lunch with the owner family, I received a lot of help and everyone (the whole village) was wonderfully friendly. Highly recommended if you like individual travel.

Positive: The family is super cute, they are super attentive and responsive. I really love to stay with them :) Barra de Guaratiba is a magical place for those who are looking to live like locals. I was there on a very hard moment in my life and I meet fantastic people and felt really closer to everyone. Those days will be remembered for the rest of my life with great affection and love!
Negative: The privacy on the space could be drastically improved because the home is connected by a staircases and is not separated by walls and/or doors. Direct entrance to the top floor is not possible but separating the straircase from the living should be mandatory to improve. A cofffee maker should be very appreciated as allowing natural light on the main bedroom (they plugged up a hole that could give some light). Details could make the place better for everyone (:

Positive: Spacious apartment; delightful and friendly hosts; safe location with top amenities nearby. Despite the language difference, this lovely family welcomed me to join their frequent, lively and thoroughly enjoyable get-togethers. Ideal accommodation for all. There are numerous bars and restaurants nearby but to highlight two: 100m to the left, Restau De Marambaia (pricey but excellent) and down the steep hill to the right (1 km), less pricey Malibu Mazinho Gastrobar. I'll sign off with a final thanks to my superb hosts until we meet again.
Negative: Having to leave this treasure was the only thing I disliked Not a problem for me but for those less mobile, the stairs could be problematic.

Positive: It is an excellent place to gather with friends without spending a lot of money. The property is located close to hiking trails, and there are superb restaurants nearby. It's a great option for a long holiday or weekend getaway.
Negative: To reach our lodge, we had to go through the owner's house and climb a two-story staircase. This required us to be mindful of our noise levels and respect the owner's privacy. However, during our stay, we did not receive any complaints, even when someone played the guitar.
Summary: Access to hiking trails, beautiful views and affordable food!
