Positive: The food was excellent and so was the view. They put a lot of effort into the plant life and have a hummingbird station that had several varieties. The gift shop was a nice touch too. The room was beautiful and so comfortable. They had a heater on when we arrived and several blankets on the bed ( which surprised us). It is the perfect mountain retreat between San Jose and Uvita.
Negative: We are an older couple and not into hiking so a room closer to the car and restaurant would have been helpful.
Summary: Beautiful and a wonderful beginning to our adventure!

Positive: The view from the balcony is stunning. There are walks in the grounds of the hotel, exclusively for the use of hotel guests, that range in length from 1.5km to 5km, through incredible forest. We saw 10 species of bird that we’d never seen elsewhere!
Negative: It was all lovely. Be prepared for the cold, though, as it does get very chilly (compared to the rest of the country).

Positive: The views and vista is simply magnificent. The birdwatching is amazing. Stunning trails from the lodge. Good food, friendly staff, lovely location. Excellent curio shop with branded merchandise.
Negative: Coffee and tea station in the room needs an upgrade. A minibar fridge with fresh milk is also needed. The beds and bedding need to be renewed, although they were warm and cozy.

Positive: Our cabin was recently renovated and so comfortable ! The deck outside the room was private and the view was absolutely incredible. The food from the lodge was fairly priced and very tasty. We loved our guide for the Quetzal tour. He was very knowledgeable and works so hard to find us 5 gorgeous quetzals
Negative: The water in the shower was icy cold, and the heater that was included in the room, didn’t do anything to touch the cool air of the evening. The bed did have tons of cozy blankets to help keep us warm though
