The Gite at Font-Robin forms part of the old farmhouse which is situated within five acres of mature land offering a 'get away from it all' setting. Font Robin has a small stream runnning through the garden which is unfenced so extra care must be taken at all times with children. Avy has a 12th Century church and numerous walk ways and cycle paths. For those who prefer a more active holiday we are ideally placed for exploring the numerous sandy beaches and beautiful towns of the Charente Maritime. Les Antilles Water Park and Spa is only 15 minutes drive. There are many other activities including fishing, horse riding, canoeing, bird watching on the Gironde marshes and wind/sand surfing.We live in the attached part of the farmhouse so are on hand if you should require any help.

Summary: We truly enjoyed our stay at Zeena and Rod. They are the most welcoming hosts you can find. The garden is terrific. We enjoyed the pool, the ping pong table and just the overall outside space. But the inside is great as well. Lots of space and comfort. Good enquiped kitchen, comfortable living area. There is a lot of nice things to do in the area for us and our two daughters (9 and 11)

Summary: We really enjoyed our holiday at this lovely place. It is a big house (bigger than we judged by the pictures) with a well equipped kitchen and an enormous garden with lots of possibilities for sun and shade. The owners (who live in the adjacent farmhouse) are very kind and friendly people and very helpful when needed. And we all enjoyed their gentle and playful dog Monty!

Summary: We really enjoyed our week stay. Rod and Zeena have thought of everything for the holiday makers both in and out of the gite. They greeted us so warmly on our arrival and provided us with the essentials for the first night, including cold beers in the fridge as we stepped out of our car! They have made the property a real home from home and the garden was huge and great fun for the four of us and some friends who came to visit for the day. Rod and Zeena were always on hand for questions and gave us recommendations of both beaches and towns to visit which was great. The photos do not do the property or the outside space justice as it more fabulous in real life! We had an amazing relaxing week. Thank you so much for making it a great holiday.

Summary: We had a fabulous stay at font robin zeena and rod couldn't have been more helpful , we were made to feel very welcome right from the minute of arriving up until the day we left , the gite was lovely, very clean and had everything you could want - even a cool bag to take to the beach! I would definately return to font robin again, we have made lovely new friends. I would recommend font robin to all my friends.

Summary: Had the most wonderful holiday, Font Robin is a very beautiful place with such a peaceful atmosphere. There is so much to do in the area, or just have lazy days by the pool which was lovely as even in the middle of September the temperatures where still in the high 20s and our hottest day was 36 degrees. Zeena and Rod are such friendly people and so helpful, nothing is ever to much trouble. The gite was all we could have wanted, well equipped with all we needed. But once you have been to Font Robin you will want to go back again, I am sure we will be back in 2015 and looking forward to it already, thank you zeena and Rod for a lovely time.

Summary: Font Robin is a truly peaceful place to stay and offers so much. We are a family of 5 with 3 offspring in teens and early twenties age group. The gite is very well equiped and extremely comfortable. We were spoilt for places to sit and relax, by the pool, the stream, the courtyard garden and the back garden which is huge. We visited Saintes with its Roman ampitheatre, the pretty coastal village of Talmont, Meschers, beaches, Royan and La Rochelle. We also spent a lot of time just relaxing and reading. Wednesday evenings at Jonzac are a must with food wine and live music. For the more active there is plenty of cycling along quiet roads although it can be a little hilly. The nearest town of Pons is pretty and worth a visit too. Rod and Zeena, our hosts were wonderful and made us so welcome and were very helpful about places to visit. We have already booked for next year, that says it all.

Summary: We had such a great time at Font-Robin that we have already rebooked for next summer. We have three children (aged 7, 4 and 4) and found the gite, and the garden perfect for all of us. The raised pool was especially suitable as when we weren't using it we could remove the steps making it inaccessible for the children which gave us great peace of mind. The garden is ENORMOUS and our city kids loved running around, playing badminton, collecting pine cones, chasing dragon flies and lizards and playing with Reggie the dog and watching the chickens. We happily spent many days playing and lazing around at 'home'. For the other days we drove out to St George de Didonne which is a great, child-friendly beach 30 mins away. Lots of sand to play in and good for little ones to paddle/swim. There's also a great tree-top adventure place there which our older one enjoyed (as did his dad!). We also explored Isle D'Oleron, Cognac, the quaint village of Talmont, the great outdoor pool with slide 10 mins away at Gemozac, Royan, Pons and the wonderful food market at Jonzac. There were also some nice walks around the gite as well. The main plus point for this beautiful accommodation aside from everything above are the hosts Zeena and Rod. From the first email, Zeena was so helpful, friendly and accommodating, ensuring that we had everything that we needed for our holiday. We really appreciated having them next door. Font Robin has the best of both worlds for a holiday - a perfectly peaceful and secluded base with easy access to all the beautiful countryside, towns and beaches. We can’t wait for next summer.

Summary: The property was as described and actually nicer than we were expecting. I think this is because of all Zeena's little decorative touches to make it look so pretty and comfortable. It was clean and well maintained and had a nice spacious airy feel about it. Having two toilets was a bonus. There were two areas of comfortable seating inside, the main area being upstairs and the bedrooms lead off this. The TV is in this lounge and that would be one thing to bear in mind if you wanted to watch TV or a DVD once children had gone to bed - if they don't close their doors or are not soundly asleep you would have to be a little quiet. But not a major problem. The kitchen was nice and modern and the courtyard just outside was very attractively kept with geraniums and a pomegranate tree - a perfect setting in which to have all our meals. There is a lot of great space outside at the back (football goalposts and a badminton net) and a pool big enough to get a family in and cool off, nicely landscaped around. I wasn't sure what it would be like having the owners right next door, but actually think it was a bonus as they were so friendly and helpful and if we wanted to know anything about where to visit, were able to offer suggestions and directions. We really loved getting to know them but they were in no way intrusive. It was a pretty area to be in, rural, but with the small town of Pons just a few mins away, likewise a big supermarket with everything we needed. Beaches were an easy 30-40 min drive away. Our 13 yr old twin girls and 10 yr old son enjoyed visiting the amphitheatre in Saintes; marvelled as they wandered around the stone sculptures at Les Lapidiales (free); had fun working out puzzles at Le Chateau des Enigimes (right on the doorstep); playing minigolf by the banks of the river in Pons; and going canoeing/pedalo-ing at Port Envaux which is a lovely spot. These are just some of the things to do but a lot of the time we were all happy just pottering about the house and in the garden or pool relaxing. I would certainly recommend this as a great place to stay.
