Positive: The host was very friendly and the food was really good. Also the whole ryokan had a nice and cozy atmosphere.

Negative: It had only one shower/onsen for the whole hotel

Location is in the quiet area with stunning view of the mountains. The fall foliage around the area is so beautiful.

Positive: We loved everything about this place. The breakfast and dinner were absolutely delicious and very authentic. This is Japanese home cooking at its best using lots of fresh ingredients from the owners garden and nearby stream. Definitely book dinner as part of your stay here. The rooms are generous in size and there is a lovely wash house. It's 3 star accommodation but brilliant value for the price. Super clean facilities and delightful friendly hosts. To get here, take a local bus from the train station to Kiso-Fukishima Ski Resort and pay Y200 as you get off the bus (announced in English). A short walk up the hill. Sleep nestled in the mountains listening to the whoosh of the nearby stream and breath in the fresh mountain air. The hosts speak enough English to get by. You are more likely to meet Japanese tourists here than most places we stayed, so its perfect if you want to get away from the tourist hordes.

Negative: Pick up from the bus stop so we didn't need to take our luggage up the hill. Not a problem if you have a car.

Summary: We loved EVERYTHING about this place - the food, the tranquil setting, the delightful hosts.

Positive: Amazing spot right on the ski slope. The staff were amazing, friendly, and explained everything to us in english. Breakfast was large and delicious. Recommend getting food at the hotel and exploring Japanese meals. They have manga available to read and an onsen inside the hotel!! The view around the hotel is beautiful and you can hike from here in the off season.

Negative: Everything was great.

Positive: The owners are extremely friendly and helpful. They served great food for breakfast and dinner. We had two connected rooms for 5 people and lots of space.

Negative: There was one big common bath room that was used alternately by men and women which was not very convenient, but there was a possibility to use a smaller individual shower. The location was a bit far away from hiking opportunities except for one trail up the ski slope

Positive: The bath area was very nice Futons were very comfortable, better than most we tried throughout the trip! Room was really big compared to most

Negative: Bath towels are provided on a rental basis (300yen if I remembered correctly). There are free face/ body towels provided though.
