Summary: Christine and Philip were excellent hosts and nothing was too much trouble for them. The location is superb, a short walk to all the local town with all the necessary shops and supermarket. Numerous cafes and good selection of places to eat and we found the village active and welcoming. Lots of places of interest within 10 miles. Fabulous holiday with family and grandchildren and loved the superb and very clean pool which was alarmed. We highly recommend this property.

Summary: This is a lovely four bedroom house just on the outskirts of St Cyprien. Peaceful with a massive garden, lovely pool and a poolhouse with barbeque. Phillippe and Christine were lovely and helpful but everything was organised and there were no problems. It's really near to the village so you can walk/cycle for the bakery and restaurants. Highly recommended.

Summary: We booked Christine's house after reading one of the the earlier reviews which summarised it perfectly. The house is located on a main road out of town. This is great for being located close to the centre of town (walking to the boulangerie rather than getting in the car is great). However it can be a little noisy but only if you are in the rear bedroom. The rest of the time you would realise it is there. The big gate does an excellent job of securing the house. Which makes it very safe for the children to run around without worrying about running outside of the property. The garden is absolutely gigantic. We regret not bringing any bikes as the kids would have gone for days ridding around it. The swimming pool is perfect with a BBQ beside As well as a pool shed with various toys for the pool. The kitchen has everything you need but not much else. Everything is very clean. Only slight criticism is the beds are a little hard which is just a personal preference more gab anything else. The house is perfectly located close to all the exciting Dordogne excursions. This is one of the massive positives which we didn't realise until arriving. The market on Sunday morning is a must - get there early to avoid overcrowding. Make sure you also head to the Thursday evening village night fete for some great french food and entertainment. Again get there early for a table. Finally Christine and Philippe are fantastic hosts. Nothing is a problem. The clearly look after the house well and are very friendly and helpful. Overall a great house excellent hosts and extremely well located. Thanks for a great holiday. Tom

Summary: My Wife and I were extremely happy with our stay at Philippe and Christine's gite. It is very well equipped and perfectly located for both strolling into St Cyprien and the river and also for driving to the most worthwhile sites in this most beautiful part of the Perigord. Philippe and Christine are extremely gracious and helpful hosts and responded immediately to any request we made of them. The gite itself is charming and the kitchen very well equipped. The private garden and lawn to the rear is a delight and the pool, though it was too cool for us to use at that time of the year, will obviously be perfect for the hot months. The only provisos I would make to potential guests is that: 1) make sure you understand the extra charges which are outlined for linen and cleaning at the end of the stay and 2) be aware that some of the showers in the en suites have clear windows without blinds which look out to the garden and are a little "exposed". If you take this on board, you should enjoy as satisfying stay as we did. Highly recommended.

Summary: We were welcomed very warmly by Christine and Phillipe to a well equipped house with some interesting history. A particular delight for us was the large garden full of interesting plants and trees including a first for us: a Kiwi vine. The American style 'fridge completed a kitchen which had every convenience. A separate dining room next to the kitchen was a useful addition to the delightful covered outside sitting and dining area. There were only the two of us so we had complete choice of the four double/twin bedrooms each with its own en-suite facilities. We had a difficult job choosing! Wifi performance was good, although we were not trying to stream films. Christine and Phillipe made sure to keep us comfortable and pander to our every want, even when we just couldn't find the table spoons which were there all the time! We only wanted a relaxing time and most certainly got it in a very attractive are of France. We would have no hesitation recommending the house and the location to friends.

Summary: I think we were the first British family to stay at the property and we would happily return. It has one of those lazy endless summer feels to it. The property is a 5/10 minute walk to a beautiful village with a picture perfect market. The property is in an incredible area. We enjoyed a boat trip on a subterranean river; seeing ancient man's cave paintings; an evening wandering around a beautiful chateau with pathways lit with candles and jazz bands playing and art installations hidden in every nook and cranny; canoeing along the Dordogne - and swimming in it; beautiful towns and night markets where you tuck into the local produce elbow to elbow with friendly French villagers. If you like high-spec everything done up to the nines then this isn't the property for you. This property has charm not state-of-the-art. From the street the property doesn't look like much as it's pushed up against the roadside. But once you turn into the track and then drive in through the large sliding gate an oasis of lush green and stone is revealed. Lovely old stone, wooden pillared terrace. The garden is vast. It seems endless with a brook on one side and a small wood at the end. The swimming pool was a good size for our family of six. The alarm was simple to use. The outdoor kitchen - a BBQ and a fridge was used several times on some of our relaxed evenings. Between swimming, the boys played rugby on the grass; cricket sometimes. The property itself has been maintained to show off a lot of its original features. There are wooden beams on the ceilings, the walls are of exposed stone. The living room is a nice size with a TV with French TV stations. The kitchen had a fridge, dishwasher, hob/oven, washing machine. It's far from a brand-new modern kitchen, but it matched the house in its old charm and had everything necessary to look after our family. There was an internet cable available. Take your wi-fi router from home. It's fast. The bedrooms were all generous sized with en-suites. The decoration was in some rooms dated, but everything was clean and working well. The power of the showers was excellent. Three of the bedrooms had really lovely views over the garden. The furniture was elegant and traditional. The owners run a guest house next door. In all of our dealings with them they seemed friendly and honest. The rates we paid probably reflect that the property is not a blinged-up palace. We think it was a bargain. A haven to enjoy a beautiful part of France.
