Summary: My son and I had a marvelous 4 days at this wonderful home. It has everything you need. It became a game for my son to list something he thinks a home should have and then find it. He was never stumped. The beach was perfect, the s'more supplies at arrival were a great touch. Lisa was super communicative and was patient thru a billing issue my bank had in seeing my reservation as a Fraudulent purchase. We will be back!

Summary: My family of 5 arrived at Captain's Retreat as the last stop of a 17 day road trip up the west coast. It could not have been more perfect. It is a beautiful home in a more beautiful location on the water. Not only was it clean and comfortable for us, but all the additional touches made it feel like home for a few days. Absolutely everything we needed was provided, and we especially enjoyed hanging by the fire making s'mores while watching fireworks. Our kids said the Captain's Retreat was one of the best parts of our trip and have already asked to return. In addition, Lisa was great to work with for the booking. We use vacation rentals often, and this was our best experience so far. Thanks so much!

Summary: This home (and it feels like one) is so nicely decorated (not cluttered which is a plus with two large dogs) and really clean. The back yard is private enough that we didn't feel stared at. Plus a great view and easy access to the bay beach with a nice covered overhang on the water side. Lisa made all of the work getting a reservation super easy. Only suggestion...document what is expected for check out since we just guessed (we didn't want to mess up the opportunity to stay again!).

Summary: Such a lovely spot, very quiet and welcoming. Our kids loved swimming and playing the Wii, my husband took them out in the dinghy at least once a day. We didn't feel like we needed to "go" anywhere though we did make use of the community pool which was nice and we happened to be there for a 50 year celebration. Both my husband and I had to work a bit and he enjoyed setting up his laptop down at the outdoor seating area and I liked the little outside "room" the only downside was just at the early evening when the sun was hot and shining in, might be nice to add a shade or something to either or both areas so you have the option for shade. We roasted marshmellows as well and made smores and it was a nice surprise to find Lisa had left the fixings for us upon our arrival as well as some sparkling wine for my husband and I . I would definitely recommend this for a family or couple that just wants to get away from the bustle of everyday!

Summary: Cozy place, perfect setup for my family. The kids loved the welcome treats for s’mores along with the Keurig set up. The beach was our main reason for coming. The incline to the gazebo is a somewhat steep, be careful for those with balance problems. My husband has neuropathy in his feet so he walked slow and did fine. We arrived around 1pm and it was low tide. A bit of a trek to the water with kayak and paddleboard. Especially down the steps. The initial part is fine but avoid the steps down to the beach level with the kayak and slip it over the edge of the bank wall to the person below. Must bring water shoes with straps or the quicksand will suck your feet in if you stand too long in one place. One lost flip flop here. High tide was easier with no oyster shells to navigate. High tide is HIGH so bring your water toys up to the grass or they will float away if not tied down. It was neat to see the water rise to the bottom of the stairs. The kids loved being on the water and felt the temperature was comfortable enough to swim in and even when a nice breeze was out. No one fell in, but they weren’t worried if it happened. A seal followed them for awhile on the first day, they loved that surprise. We rented the kayak and paddleboard from a place in Allyn. The couple were wonderful and helpful. Pros Beach front - Nice view with beautiful sunsets - House was warm and inviting, felt like coming home. Clean with little welcome touches. My daughter noticed the little soaps, extra toothbrush in case someone forgot, the qtips and makeup remover pads in the bathroom. - Lisa was always available by text or email to answer questions that popped up. - Enclose porch with propane tank for a fire to watch the sunset..my favorite place to sit in the evenings when it became cooler. Cons The only con we had was that the staircase down to the beach. This was difficult for my husband to negotiate with his neuropathy and helping the kids bring the kayak and paddle board down the stairs difficult. Some steps down were higher than others, which is more noticeable for a short person and a kayak.

Summary: We are a couple of friends who stayed here for a quick weekend getaway to chill, eat, and read. We chose this place because it was only an hour from Tacoma and it looked like it had a great view. This place exceeded our expectations at every turn! For the price we were expecting something very modest, and we were so delighted to find this to be a truly charming beach cottage. It has three comfortable bedrooms (I actually slept on the lower bunk in the bunkbed room and it was great) and an excellent well equipped kitchen. My friend (luckily!) did all the cooking but she said she had all the tools and supplies she needed! We had dinner on the deck overlooking the sunsets on the bay in the evening and hung out in the chairs provided on the beach reading books during the day. The weather was strangely warm this weekend so we got to hang out on the beach in the sun, but the cottage is perfectly set up for stormy weather with an awesome enclosed deck with a propane fireplace. Pretty much perfect. We ran into Shelton at one point to get something we'd forgotten and it was an easy 15 minute drive. Lisa is a fantastic host and communicated with us very clearly! We're luck to have her sharing this place with the world. We left scheming about how soon we could come up with an excuse to come back here.
