There are few places on the Eastern seaboard where one can stand on the deck of an oceanside house and see nothing but salt marsh, beach and the Atlantic -- no houses, no people, nothing but solitude and the sounds of waves, gulls, and Sequin’s fog horn. Yassou (a Greek salutation meaning “welcome”), sitting on a high, granite bluff overlooking the Maine coast, the sand beaches of Popham and Seawall, and the open Atlantic at Casco Bay, is such a place.
Yassou is a large and comfortable family home filled with warmth and character. It's a perfect place to escape, unwind, and relax with family members. There are great books and a wealth of board games to while-away-the-hours, and wifi for those who need to stay connected. The 9-acre property overlooks the tidal Morse River and the 4-mile stretch of sand beaches known as Popham and Seawall – formed where the mouth of the Kennebec River meets the Atlantic Ocean.
There are 3 structures on the property – a main house and two out buildings. The house is 2,500 square-feet, spread over four levels, and built to take advantage of the stunning ocean views. There are 5 bedrooms.
The ground floor has three bedrooms: one with a queen bed, one with two twins, and one with a twin bed. This floor has a full bath, a laundry area with washer and dryer.
The second floor, with its ocean views, houses the main living and dining areas with an open floor plan and a vaulted ceiling. The living room area is centered around a large cozy fireplace on the northern end of the main floor, with the dining area and the open-shelved kitchen with a breakfast bar on the south side.
Outside decks surround three sides of this level with a screened-in porch off the kitchen. Three sliding-glass doors provide easy access to the deck from this floor. There is also a full bath and master bedroom on this floor, with access from the bedroom to the quiet north side deck for morning coffee as the sun rises.
A loft above the main floor leads to another bedroom and stairs leading up to “The Tower,” which is a treat unto itself. Perched 35’ high, The Tower commands a 360° bird’s eye view of the surrounding countryside and ocean. Five adults can comfortably sit in The Tower, which is a stunning place to watch the sunrise or sunset.
Two out-buildings complete the structures on the property. “Blossom,” nestled in the pines just beneath the main house, is a rustic bunkhouse. “The Gallery” is a workshop and storage shed just east of the main house.

Summary: This is the perfect Maine getaway. I tried to booked this place for our annual family vacation for two years before it finally worked out! The effort was absolutely worth it! This cabin is even better than the pictures. When we first arrived and walked up the stairs to the main level, I had a physical reaction to the view. It is truly breath taking. My family loved every second of our time here. We will be coming back year after year

Summary: We couldn't have asked for more! Yassou is an amazing property. Gorgeous views of the ocean with a secluded woodsy campy feel, close to the beach. The property is well kept in the camp style and I have honestly never been in a rental property that is as well stocked as this one. Lots of space to spread out, plenty of beds for the whole family and we can't wait to go back!

Summary: Our 1 week stay at Yassou was truly something special! The house was perfect for our group of 6 with plenty of room for all of us and the views were absolutely spectacular! It was one of the best weeks we've had in a while and we were so sad when it was time to leave. The location of the property is extremely remote and private which we loved and the house was so unique which gave it that extra special charm! The house came equipped with literally everything you could imagine which made our stay so much easier. The owners are also extremely kind, helpful, and communicative. We highly recommend staying at Yassou so that you can enjoy everything this special place has to offer!!! Thank you for an unforgettable week!

Summary: My relatives (for whom I rented this house) absolutely adored the view and the fun make-up of the living space, which they described as perfect for families. I think the description of the house on VRBO is right on. Yes, there are mosquitos. It is NOT a walk to the beach. But it's as quiet and beautiful as you could possibly want.

Summary: We had wonderful time at Yassou celebrating family birthday’s and taking time away from the bustle of day to day life. It is a great spot in nature with glorious ocean views from the deck. Wonderful wildlife - we saw turkeys, herons, hummingbirds, hawks and Pheobe flycatchers. They provided lots of entertainment.! We felt completely at home the minute we arrived. The house has an artistic, comfortable quintessential Maine vibe - a beautiful stone fireplace, spacious outdoor deck, paintings from local artists scattered about on the walls, well stocked kitchen with vintage pottery dishes and many nooks and crannies to spread out for alone time or enjoy time together as a family. The tower was a favorite morning spot to take in the view - so peaceful! The beds were comfortable, bathrooms clean with good water pressure and fluffy towels in each room. The Callahans (owners of Yassou) were great communicators and made sure all was well. A beach pass is provided for Popham Beach. They have stocked the house with games, many books, fans, wood for the fire, cooking essentials, charcoal for the grill and most toiletries you may have forgotten (which was a thoughtful touch). The mosquitos were there as warned and bug spray was provided as well as thorough instructions as to keep them at bay. We didn’t experience any mosquitos on the deck while we were there, mostly in the driveway while entering and exiting the house. We had a fabulous time at this property and look forward to experiencing it again. Thank you!

Summary: Yassou is beyond charming-incredible views; delightful decor with whimsical touches; exceedingly well-equipped with everything from kitchen supplies to bug spray to a charging station; comfortable beds and furniture; thoughtful, accommodating, and warm hosts... One of the best, if not best, rentals I've stayed in. Felt more like a friend lending us their house than a rental.

Summary: Yassou was just what our family of 6 needed. Lots of room for us to enjoy our privacy, join together for dinner, and games by the fireplace. Yassou has all the things you need for a comfortable stay. Bug Spray, pans,any small toiletries you may have forgotten. I loved that we were so close to Popham beach, and had the enjoyment of the deck to see the beach every morning with coffee. As for the bugs, we are from Maine. There was never an issue on the deck, and moderate bug interaction from the car to inside. Yassou is in the woods. We expected some bugs. We often sat outside at night without bugs “bugging” Us. The stars are incredible. We are happy that we got a chance to stay at this beautiful place. With all it’s little charms.

Summary: We enjoyed our stay. Complete kitchen. Beautiful view. Great outside deck. Very peaceful. Great fireplace. We would improve lightening inside the house. A nice suspended lamp over the dining table would be a real improvement!

Summary: We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Yassou. The house was equipped with everything you can think of, from condiments in the fridge to games and videos for adults and kids. The views from the deck and tower were spectacular. We had coolish weather for a couple of days so took advantage of the fireplace. The nights are very quiet and peaceful. A great place to relax and reconnect with each other.
