The Hilly House is a hillside property in the heart of the Whitehall district, surrounded by beautiful rural views. Very private. Outdoor baths for relaxing in peace, star gazing with a glass of wine or two. Our friendly and inquisitive llamas will come over to greet you, you can fine their pellets inside the house. There are many lovely walks nearby. Blue Springs in Putaruru, 40 mins. Sanctuary Mt Maungatautari, 35 mins and 10 mins from Lake Karapiro and Cambridge with amazing eateries.
The Hilly House is completely separated from the main house with fully established trees separating the two properties, giving you and your guests complete privacy.
Beautiful natural light streams through the panoramic glass creating a welcoming and relaxing space. The two rooms are on opposite sides of the house. One room is next to the lounge with the option to wake up to the view of the country side or has a bi-fold door for more privacy.
The kitchen and dining area are a combined space, where guests can help themselves to a light breakfast, teas and coffee.
The property is located between two working farms so on the odd occasion guests can enjoy the curious animals nosing up to graze along the fence line.
At the entrance of the driveway guests will see a Hilly House Luxury Accommodation sign. Follow the Hilly House signs down a long driveway. The Hilly House is located on the left at the end of the driveway.
Ample onsite parking. As this property is in the country guests will need their own car to get around.

Summary: We had a fantastic stay at the Hilly House. The house is spotless and tastefully decorated and had everything we needed for six nights of peaceful, pastoral living. Highly recommended, couldnt give it the six stars it deserved.

Summary: The house and views were better than we could’ve imagined. The house has most everything you could need and is very nice and clean. We absolutely loved the house. Nothing can beat the views you wake up to in the morning or see while relaxing in the evening. The rolling hills are so beautiful and at night you get the ultimate stargazing when laying out on the deck. We stayed here because of its proximity to Hobbiton and it didn’t disappoint because it was less than a 20 minute drive there, and it’s a very beautiful drive. We also did the glow worm caves and it was only an hour drive from the house which wasn’t bad at all We absolutely loved being greeted by the four Llamas on the property. They’re very large but very sweet and we got a huge kick out of feeding them pellets. I’ve reserved a lot of houses from Vrbo and this is now easily one of my favorites and I highly recommend reserving this house if you’re staying in the area.

Summary: This was our favorite rental we have ever stayed at. The views are gorgeous, central location to visit surrounding areas, had everything we needed and more. The llamas were a delight and we loved them. The kitchen was well stocked with anything we needed and more with some special touches we really appreciated!

Summary: My wife, her sister, and I, all in our 70s, stayed here for eleven nights while attending the International Breast Cancer Survivors Dragon Boat Festival at Lake Kirapiro. We booked well in advance and communicated several times with the highly responsive hosts. We received directions and access information well in advance of our arrival. All information was very clear. The lodging had a professional information book that we used after arrival. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the four gentle llamas and were delighted to find the refrigerator stocked with containers of milk, fresh orange juice, water, a bowl of fruit, and three dark chocolate Easter bunnies. There were containers of muesli and cornflakes on the counter, as well as a variety of Nespresso coffee pods for the machine. Since our stay was lengthy, our hosts replenished our towels, and bedding and provided additional milk, fruit, coffee, and cereals but no more chocolate bunnies :) We were able to meet Steph and her beautiful new baby girl and enjoyed speaking with her about New Zealand. My wife and I have stayed in numerous VRBO accommodations during our travels. This one ranks at the top of the list.

Summary: We rented the property while we supported our daughter at the Maadi Cup. A fantastic spot. Really well appointed, tastefully decorated and incredibly peaceful. A great base for exploring as only 15 minutes from Cambridge. Had a very relaxing stay. Thoroughly recommend the Hilly House.
