3 Bedroom Cabin in Borgarnes, Borgarbyggð

Our charming cottage is situated in a truly special and quiet location. The scenery will leave you breathless and provide the perfect setting for spending precious time with loved ones or simply taking some time to relax and unwind.
Our cottage has all the modern comforts you could need, including a fully equipped kitchen, comfortable furnishings, and a charming outdoor space, the ultimate home away from home.
Located 15 minutes north of Borgarfjörður, close to Norðurá salmon river, total of 95km from Reykjavík.
The cottage was recently renovated and accommodates up to 8 people.
It's quite secluded, about 1.5km off route 1.
Breathtaking views from the terrace, three different glaciers are visible and northern lights have shone bright here every autumn/winter. On top of the bedrooms there is a futon in the living room that sleeps two people.
Kitchen and bathroom have been renovated in 2022.

Summary: We loved our stay here! We wanted to be fairly isolated and away from lights to increase our chances of seeing auroras. Unfortunately, the weather didn't cooperate, but we still had a wonderful time! The house was super clean and well appointed with everything you would need for your stay away from home. The decorations were lovely and perfectly and tastefully done. We could hear the nearby river, and sheep bleating, which just added to the ambiance. We even had a visit from a ptarmigan! Even though this house is fairly remote, it was still easy access for our western explorations.

Summary: This cabin was beautiful and cozy, immaculate, secluded, yet close to so many sites to see in western Iceland. Gas station was 5 minutes away. Groceries 20 minutes. Waterfalls, Geothermal baths, even Icelandic horse riding was only 10 minutes away! Our family of 5 enjoyed the lovely view to the glacier and also the wetland. Love that the cabin has a mudroom, to take off shoes before entering the house. Living area and kitchen are spacious and beautifully appointed, containing everything you need to cook a meal and be comfortable after a long day out hiking and exploring. Dishwasher was great to have. My only minor critique would be that bedrooms are on the small side and my husband and I decided that we would sleep in the room with the single beds, rather than in the room with the double bed (the person furthest from the door would have to climb over the other person to exit if need be). Small issue really. We were comfy and warm and everyone was so happy with our stay!!

Summary: We enjoyed the beautiful views and comfortable, attractive interior of the home. It was a good location for taking a day trip to the Snaefellsnes Peninsula and going on a lava tube tour and seeing the Hraunfossar waterfall.

Summary: The house is at the end of a road in a gated community. It is secluded and lovely. It has a full kitchen, porch, grill, 3 bedrooms, a bathroom and is clean and perfect. We were pleased with the location cause it gave us access to the things we wanted to see: It's a short drive to Borgarnes, and not far from Reykjavik, Husafell, Grabrok, etc. I highly recommend this location if you want to explore the western region of Iceland.

Summary: I really enjoyed my stay. This is a summerhouse in a super quiet area; everything was as described, and very clean. I didn't get to see the owner but she was superhelpful on the phone when I had trouble finding the place (it turned out way easier than seemed after reading the instructions!). Overall I had a great time and hope to be back some day. As for where the place is: after the gate follow the road till you see a red sign and behind it there is a stand with 3 brooms. Take a left fork here. Follow the road, you will see the second red sign pointing to the left. Don't go to the left, follow the same road you are on (now it is the right fork) till the road ends. Here you find the house.

Summary: A nice cosy cottage to stay in the West of Iceland but also next to Geysir. So a good place. The equipment of the house was convenient for a family of 5.
