3 Bedroom Cottage in Little Bay

If you are looking for a relaxed island experience and want to stay in a safe, and remarkably beautiful place, then come and stay with us. Our cottage is away from the hustle and bustle and sits on the coral edge of the glistening blue waters of Jamaica’s south coast. Our cottage is located in Little Bay which is a small and friendly fishing village, bordered by two sandy beach bays. The property, a lush tropical acre includes bananas, lemon, grapefruit, oranges, tangerine, star fruit, key lime trees and exotic flowers.
You will enjoy our hammocks in the sea view almond trees and there are loungers on the sea front for sunning and relaxing. Tansobak has a unique saltwater pool built into natural coral boulders providing a perfect private spot for a quick cooling dip. At the sea edge of the patio is an ocean ladder for access to swimming or snorkeling the reef. Watching the sea birds, fish rising and fishermen pulling lobster pots is always a great daily activity off of the edge.
The main floor 'Doctor-bird Suite' has one bedroom with double bed, one bathroom with hot water shower, wet bar with mini-fridge. This is our only room that has air-conditioning. This unique suite has a first floor veranda facing the sea. The suite features handcrafted cedar carved closets and cabinetry and hand made wicker chairs.
The upstairs has two bedrooms with an inside adjoining door as well as each room has its own outside door to the verandah. The smaller upstairs 'Sunset Room' has a double bed. The larger upstairs 'Sunrise Room' has a king bed. Both second floor rooms have private baths with hot showers, large screened windows, ceiling fans and wonderful sea views. The upstairs rooms are joined to the downstairs using an outside staircase.
We have a separate dining area with a full kitchen. This includes a stove, oven, microwave, coffee pot, blender, toaster and fridge, all just a few steps from the cottage. This is a great space for a larger group to gather and enjoy eating together.
Looking for a vacation where you don't have to do the cooking? For just $40. per person, per day for breakfast and dinner you can hire "Annettes Kitchen". Annette's meals are all home made and prepared on site in a separate kitchen from yours. This will often include the catch of the day by local fisherman. Fresh caught tuna and lobster and other varieties alternate with jerk or stewed chicken. Meals are cooked with vegetables, potatoes, plantain or rice and beans which make the dining experience truly Jamaican and wonderful at Tansobak. Fresh fruit of the island such as orange, papaya, mango, banana or pineapple also make the juices or slices truly sweet treats for guests.
We have had the same staff working for us for the last 17 years. They do everything they can to make sure our guests find everything they need to make your vacation one to remember. Just ask if you need something.
You will get daily housekeeping with a sheet change mid week.
We recently installed "StarlinK" to help provide the best internet in the area.

Summary: This was our first time to Jamaica and we couldn't be happier with our stay! Everyone was so kind, easy going and accommodating. Annette and Sophie-Thank you for treating us like family. You're cooking is out of this world and your hospitality is unmatched. Richie-Thank you for showing us the local sites, answering all our questions (there were many) and taking my husband fishing!!! Osha-Thank you for putting up with our antics and listening to all our stories, lol. Courtney-Thank you for picking us up at the airport, stopping at the store, taking us to Negril and getting us back to the airport safely!! The house was awesome, the bedrooms were beautiful, the kitchens were clean and had everything we needed. The property was breathtaking and I cant even express the beauty. Truly amazing! My daughter and I walked around the local area and were greeted with nothing but kindness and love. We will be back soon and are looking forward to seeing everyone. Thanks again for making our stay perfect! With love, Rosie, Tony, & Toothpick (aka Grace)

Summary: This trip was everything we were looking for in our first visit to Jamaica. The property is beyond beautiful and well maintained and we enjoyed the tranquility of being out of the city. Communication with the owners was easy and informative. They hooked us up with the local staff who took care of us like we were family. From driving us to and from Montego Bay as well as seeing some local sights (thank you Courtney!) to maintaining the cottage and preparing delicious authentic food (thank you Annette, Sophie, and Paula!) to taking us on adventures and just being plain fun to be around (thank you Richie!), we made memories that will last a lifetime. Highly recommend!

Summary: We were fortunate to have two weeks to spend in Jamaica and split our trip between a few different places. Staying here was the best, from the moment we were greeted by the sea breeze coming right off the ocean to the staff who treated us like family. We knew this was special. Courtney - Thanks for meeting us at the airport-and waiting for our late arrival. And, you still stopped at the store so we could grab some snacks, food and of course rum on the way in! You are a patient man. Richie - you are amazing! Loved how you helped us get fresh coconuts off the trees, never tasted the coco-water and jelly before, yum. You were so much fun and you kept us all laughing. Annette – So glad we decided to take meals with you. You are truly an amazing cook, thanks. The meals were nothing less than 5-star with plenty of variety. The lobster dish on the last night was special. You all gave us the space to totally unwind and enjoy each moment. I was surprised that the wifi was really good in the house, not as good out in the kitchen but who wants to be on your phones while in paradise? We were happy to facetime with our family and connect to our own Netflix when we wanted at night. The kitchen/dining area was a perfect gathering spot, especially the evening it rained. It was nice to have a large covered room to sit in, watch the rain fall and play some cards. It’s nicely set up with everything we needed to prepare our lunches and chill drinks. This is the type of vacation getaway gem you happen upon and then you just want to keep it a secret, but we're going to tell our friends and hope to return soon. I would recommend this spot to anyone looking for a relaxing vacation where you can do as little or as much as you want, where the seaside sounds, service, food and sunsets are outstanding.

Summary: Beautiful place; but only hot water in shower is not good. No hot water in kitchen or sinks. Need air conditioning in all rooms. No pool lights. No WiFi available. Amenities need to be upgraded. Should have at least one TV. And stop saying it’s on the beach it’s within walking distance but not what you expect to see or visit for pleasure. Richard, the caretaker made the stay enjoyable. His personality was pleasurable and fun. Provisions should be made for at least two visits to town and let’s your visitors make reasonable accommodations $$. We made the best of time in Jamaica

Summary: My fiancé and I stumbled upon this home and upon arrival and greetings knew we made the right decision. Annette & Sophie’s food was delicious and they’re beyond catering. Richie kept the property absolutely leafless & the pool showing only the sun and clouds above. The house is so cozy and beautiful. We were able to enjoy beautiful scenery and bask in the pool cliff side while feeling the Caribbean breeze. Will definitely be back with our boys, can’t wait to stay again & see the staff again as well! Highly recommend

Summary: The rooms were large enough for 3 couples and very quiet. The property and setting is amazing, and the staff is fantastic. We enjoyed Annette's cooking very much. The variety was great and the portions generous. This property is in a fairly remote spot, in a village that's a mix of locals and rental properties. If you want a peaceful getaway without being packed into a resort with swarms of other tourists, this is definitely the way to go. Be prepared for some dogs and goats and chickens running around on the road outside of the fenced and gated property. The back of the property nearest the road is a well landscaped stretch with flowers and tropical trees. Ritchie pointed out tamarind and naseberry, which we would have missed, and he let us taste them. He also took us on some short, interesting walks in the area: to a fruit bat cave, and to a cool mineral pool. The top floor has two bedrooms that exit onto the balcony, each with their own bathroom. The bottom floor is divided between another bedroom at the back, and a common area with a nice kitchenette opening on to a nice tiled porch. The bottom bedroom has air conditioning, which we seldom used. There's a building behind the house with a full kitchen for the guests' use and lovely covered dining area where your meals are served. There's no grocery shopping nearby, so you'll need to arrange transportation if you want to cook. We grocery shopped on the way in from the airport. Toward the ocean from the house is a grassy area with three hammocks, then a cement section near the water with lounging chairs, a saltwater soaking pool, and a wonderful gazebo right at the edge of the water. We sat in this gazebo for sunrises, sunsets, and hours during the day sometimes, enjoying the shade, breezes and watching the birds and fishing boats. There's a very sturdy steel ladder down to the water. There's no sandy beach, but when the ocean is calm, the snorkeling was fantastic, and the water inviting. Negril's iconic beaches area about a half hour drive away. We spent one day there, and enjoyed it, but the property was so nice, there's not much reason to leave except to explore. Annette charges US dollars for the meals, and the staff appreciated tips at the end of our stay in dollars, as well as one or two times when we wanted to show them appreciation when they did special things like Ritchie's walks. We never had a problem spending US at the stores, bars, or restaurants.

Summary: My wife and I stayed at Tansobak in 2005 and returned this year. It was every bit as wonderful as we remembered and now has added amenities. The kitchen and dining area, separate from the house, are great, and although we didn't use them frequently this time, we certainly will on our next trip. It's a great addition and you can tell a lot of work went into it. Richie, Annette, Sophie, and Paula did their usual wonderful job of cooking, tidying up after us, keeping the grounds spotless, and taking us on little adventures. They feel like family. We brought our son and his girlfriend with us this year. Two 20 year olds were content to hang out at Tansobak, get to know the staff - and hang out with their parents. How often does that happen?? Perhaps a side benefit of the less than perfect WiFi that Richie helped us with whenever needed. Tansobak is rural and quiet. It offers a glimpse of Jamaica away from the resorts and hustlers. For those people willing and comfortable to venture beyond the all inclusives it really doesn't get much better!!

Summary: It's a bit of a drive the first time but once you know where you are going it's a snap. The place is beautiful and well kept up. I wish there was a way to give the staff 10 stars. Richie, anette and Sophia absolutely made the trip for us. We ate at a lots of places but honestly there is nothing better than the food the girls made at the house. It rocked! We will be back!

Summary: We were lucky enough to celebrate the holidays at the Little Bay Cottage, and it was an awesome experience. The views from the gazebo/backyard are worth the price of admission alone, and that was just the beginning. Annette's cooking is 2nd to none, and Ritchie made sure we were maximizing our time and enjoyment during our stay. I'd highly recommend the Little Bay Cottage to anyone who's looking for a tropical vacation without the big resort feel.
