From the cover of Maine Home and Design, the center cape dates to 1860. Purchased by great grandparents in 1899. "Aldermere" derives from the shore stand of Alder trees and the french word for sea - "la mer”. Carefully renovated in 2008 to a high standard, maintaining the antique look and feel, with 5 bedrooms and modern systems. The elevator between 1st & 2nd floors is very useful for luggage and seniors. A 20' breezeway connects to garage with full apartment over. Climate by geo-exchange - six 400' wells under the back lawn - with wind turbine. 3 acres of lawn give tremendous sense of space and privacy, and views over the bay are grand. Substantial library. We are privately surrounded by Aldermere Farm and our Belted Galloway herd. Outdoor shower. 1895 Baldwin in good tune. History everywhere. Bring your connector to plug in your EV to 50 amps.

Summary: We had a memorable stay at the Aldemere Farm property over the New Year holiday. Kim and his family have done an incredible job of restoring and preserving their beautiful home. The location is perfect and the scenery is stunning. Kim was especially kind and took our two-year daughter for a little tour of their farm. We highly recommend this property and we hope to return again one day.

Summary: The property is very special and the owner represents generations of family that have owned the house. It is one part history tour and one part updated luxury. The house is well located close to everything but just far enough out of town to provide guests a private setting to relax and take in the amazing views.

Summary: We loved our stay at Kim’s beautiful home. The location is perfect, close enough for a day trip to Acadia. The house was beautiful with glorious sunrise views of the bay. Super comfortable with everything we could possibly need. Loved starting and ending our days on the expansive porch and playing with our dog on the huge lawn. Hope to be back next year!!

Summary: Aldermere is simply wonderful. The home is loved and loving. Kim is a marvelous host who really cares about his home and those who vacation in it. It has everything one could possibly want/need on a vacation - luxurious bedding, soft fluffy towels, a wonderfully stocked kitchen, soap and tissues in every bathroom, and even an elevator to move luggage from one floor to another. And the view of Penobscot Bay is simply spectacular. We lunched on the expansive deck overlooking the Bay several times. Memories were made there. We are already looking forward to a return visit!
