You’ll be welcomed by twinkling lights along the laneway to your lakeside retreat. Located in a quiet inlet from the large part of the lake, you’ll be protected from boat traffic. Listen to the birds and enjoy your morning coffee on the walk-out veranda overlooking the lake. Jump into the clean water and soak up the sunshine in the Muskoka chairs on the dock during the day, and explore the stunning rocky shoreline and many fingers of Lake Wah-Wesh-Kesh on the provided kayaks and stand-up paddleboards in the afternoon. Relax, toast marshmallows and share stories around the outdoor fire pit in the evening, and after the sun has set, gaze up at millions of twinkling stars.
The large deck that wraps around the back and side of the lakehouse is home to a BBQ (propane provided) and Muskoka chairs to sit and overlook the lake and dock. Prepare your meals in a well-equipped kitchen complete with large and small appliances and plenty of dishes, platters and everything you need to prepare and serve delicious meals around the big harvest table with a view of the lake. This is the perfect place to gather around and play games in the evenings.
The extra-large living area has a soaring vaulted ceiling and floor to ceiling window to let in the tree-filtered sunlight. On cool evenings, make a fire in the woodstove and cozy up under a blanket to enjoy a movie and popcorn.
You came to Makwa Lakehouse to get away and disconnect, but if you need to get some work done while you’re here, you’ll have a fast wifi connection for all of your devices from the Starlink satellite, and excellent service on your mobile phones.
After long days of fun, rest and recharge in one of the three bedrooms. The primary bedroom offers a king-sized bed with a closet for your use. The second bedroom offers a comfortable queen-sized bed with a dresser and the third room has space for four in the two sets of twin-sized bunk beds. A spacious closet has room for everyone’s things and includes board games and a booster seat/high chair for our littlest guests. If you need to do laundry during your stay, bring some detergent and use the new built-in washer and dryer.

Summary: Wonderful cottage with all essentials and more. Clean and well appointed and everything in working order. Very quiet area looking south west. Sunny dock with shaded deck for those hot days. Beautiful lake. We had a great time!

Summary: We had a wonderful time in a house that exceeded our expectations in every way. The location right on Wahwashkesh Lake is stunning, offering a perfect setting for relaxation in nature. The house itself is stylishly built and furnished from top to bottom. Everything is new, well-maintained and very clean. Nothing was lacking: The kitchen was fully equipped, there were plenty of hand towels, bath towels and beach towels available. Even canoes and life jackets were provided – all in excellent condition. Melinda and Brian have put a lot of love into the details, ensuring that we felt at home right away. A particularly nice touch was finding the book "The Lake House" by Kate Morton in the living room – a truly thoughtful gesture. We greatly appreciated that we could reach out to Melinda and Brian at any time with questions and always received prompt assistance. We thank Melinda and Brian for the unforgettable time and look forward to returning!

Summary: My family had a wonderful week relaxing on Wahwashkesh Lake. The house was very clean and comfortable with modern furnishings, a well equipped kitchen, nice bathroom, comfy beds and privacy between the cottages on a quiet bay off the main lake. Melinda was always available to answer any questions and the internet was great when we needed it. We were sad to leave at the end of the week but plan to book a holiday back here in 2025.

Summary: We had an amazing time at this cottage. The cottage is beautifully appointment. Extremelly well equipped it was very comfortable to spend the week. Everything is new, every detail is thought through. The beds are very comfortable. The bathroom is light clean and modern. The area was very peaceful and quiet. The surroundings are beautiful. The lake is great. There were all we needed to be entertained. We can only recommend.

Summary: The cottage was exactly as described! The cottage was extraordinarily clean and so well equipped. From the kitchen appliances to the towels to the boats and paddle boards, we weren’t left wanting for anything. The water and dock were wonderful and the fire pit and picnic table made for fun evenings with smores and roasted hot dogs. Miranda was very fast responding and the check in and check out process was a breeze. We would love to come back!

Summary: Ads are not always as they say. This cottage surpassed out expectations. Every thing up to the smallest item like a cork screw, steamer, take home bags, all utensils, a great coffee maker and a big fridge and a small fridge were provided. Lots of room. Beds were awesome. Lots of towels. The water was magnificent. No lack of chairs on the dock or by the fire pit. There were 5 of use. Shower was great. Towels of good quality. Kitchen and eating area had so much space for enjoying meals. The TV and internet were awesome. On the one rainy day we enjoyed movies. My children were of course happy with the hi speed internet connection. Enough space between neighbours where we could have the bluetooth speaker playing our music. Big sink for washing dishes. Dishwasher as well. We did not have to use the washer and dryer but they are modern and high grade. My daughter actually asked me to ask the owners what kind of shampoo and conditioner was in the dispensers. LOL. She is fussy. The bbq worked awesome. I am a cook and it was easy. Bottom line it is not often you pay for what you get. This time from start to finish it was. Melinda answered all my question before hand and while we were there. I highly recommend this cottage as a place to stay at. In the famous words of the terminator. "i' be back.

Summary: This cottage is magnificent! The dirt roads are easy to navigate and as soon as you pull into the driveway you see the water down the hill. Highly recommend if you’re looking to be away for the city. Melinda was quick to respond to every question we had from wifi password to where to find the washer and dryer.
