Villa Kempin is a privately-owned villa used as the owner's holiday home. It is set in the friendly boutique Marphe Resort in a tranquil area around 2.5 km from the quaint harbour/port of Datca.
Villa Kempin is cool, spacious and furnished to a high standard with antiques and carpets. with a newly renovated kitchen. Consisting of 2 floors, 2 large bedrooms with en-suites. The open plan ground floor opens into a small, private garden with seating area for eating outdoors. Fully equipped with Smart-TV, A/C. and free WiFi in the villa and grounds.
The villa is just 2 mins walk from the hotel, via a stepped stone lane decorated with Turkish tiles, antique stone-work and flowering pots.
The resort consists of 11 other villas, 9 apartments, 2 beautiful pools with a children’s area, shaded garden, and pool-side bar and restaurant.
The complex has been designed to give the feeling of traditional Turkish architecture: cool white buildings, stone walls, bougainvillea, and colourful ceramic pots. A small wooded area provides privacy for the villas by separating them from the pool.
Datca town is about a 2.5 km walk from the villa and is set on a beautiful harbour, lined with sailing boats, restaurants and tourist shops. Tourism is on a small scale and has been tastefully developed and Datca provides a welcoming Turkish experience.
At night the harbour comes alive, with families mingling and enjoying the restaurants and wandering along the promenade. There are several bars with dancing that stay open late.
There are safe swimming beaches with very clear water all around town, all having lovely views of the nearby Greek Islands of Symi, Kos & Rhodes. You can enjoy the range of cafes and restaurants that are directly on the beach. Sailing boats, wind-surfers and lessons are available.
There is a Migros supermarket within 10 minutes walk of the villa. Alternatively the Saturday Farmers' Market is a wonderful experience, with locals coming to sell their fresh organic food (olives, cheese, almonds, herbs and spices) along with fruit and vegetables and 'designer' goods! There is also a smaller local farmers market on a Wednesday.
Around Datca: car and scooter hire can be organised. Datca is situated on a peninsula with pine & olive-covered hills leading down to sparkling bays and traditional villages and restaurants. You can still observe traditional life in the villages where olive and almond-farming continues. Several days can be spent exploring the peninsula either by scooter, bus or rental car.
At the tip of the peninsula is Knidos, the site of historic ruins, just 45 minutes drive away. There are also a myriad of coves and swimming beaches.
For those seeking more options for shopping, tourism and night-life - Marmaris and Bodrum make worthwhile day trips.
Boats / Wind Surfing / Sailing: At the Datca harbour there are many daily boat excursions. There are fishing trips or excursions to the Greek islands of Symi and Rhodes. Daily boat trips can be organised.
A frequent passenger and car-ferry service runs to Bodrum. Private yachts or gulets can be organised, with sufficient notice. Several times we hired a boat and sailed from Bodrum to the Greek Islands for a week.
Sailing lessons for both children and adults and wind-surfing hire available in Datca and there is kite surfing at the Surf Village 10 km outside of Datca.

Summary: We loved our stay at the villa, its perfect for a family with kids. It is very comfortable, spacious and nicely decorated. We have stayed there early April very very early in the season, the hotel wasn't fully opened yet nor the swimming pool but we didn't mind that. It is not very close to the center of Datça nor many shops or cafes around so I'd highly recommend hiring a car to get around the town as well sightseeing many locations around Datça too.

Summary: We stayed at the villa as a group of one 3 year old, one 9 year old and 3 adults. The villa was very spacious. The bedrooms are located upstairs and they are nicely decorated and large enough. Each room has its own shower and bathroom upstairs. The master bedroom has a small balcony. Downstair level has a living room, kitchen and a small restroom. The living room has a TV and a DVD player,where kids can watch their DVD's. The kitchen has a table for up to 6 people. Also there is small terrace located outside of the kitchen area where the entrance is. There is outside seating and table where we actually had dinners for couple of nights. The villa was very nicely decorated. We loved Rachel's taste. It is simple but lovely. The villa is part of an apart hotel complex. You can walk to the pool of the hotel in 2 minutes. The owner of the hotel Mr.Ahmet is very helpful with all your needs. He helped us arranging a boat tour when we visited his carpet shop in the centre of Datca. He is very kind and offered all the help with almost anything or any question during our stay. A true gentleman. Also there is a great advantage that the villa is within the hotel complex as the staff can also help you with all your urgent needs. This is usually an issue with the other house or villa rentals. Finally we loved our stay at Rachel's villa. It just would be better if the villas was closer to the beach. Bur we had our own car and we drove to the centre of the city. Otherwise everything else was great. Thank you Rachel and Ahmet.

Summary: Fantastic little complex hidden away above the town of Datcha. On site bar & eatery is generally good with prices on the high side of reasonable - however, it is very convenient! Villa was high spec, spacious and well maintained although Datchas drainage is not yet up to the same levels as some of the big resorts (if that's what you're used to) - we've been travelling to Turkey for many years and it wasn't a problem to us. I would thoroughly recommend car hire - Datcha is quite a long way from anywhere (one of it's charms) but if you have the wanderlust, it's a long way on a scarce bus or dolmus. Food shopping is easy as there's loads of places around the complex (within walking distance) and down the hill in the town centre (not easily walkable - especially if you have shopping). Really enjoyed our time in Datca - especially the villa, but probably wont go back as we rarely revisit the same place! Great holiday if you want to just relax by the pool and meander through a few days switching off from the outside world. If you're after an action packed, adventure-fest, probably the wrong place to go!

Summary: Just returned from a great holiday - a fantastic place to relax. Waking up to the beautiful views from the master bedroom windows was a superb way to start the day. The villa was bright, airy, and clean with a pretty Mediterranean feel and al fresco eating area in the private rear garden of the villa. The A/C rarely required downstairs, with the cross breeze from the windows. A/C in the bedrooms helped with a good night sleep (I like it cold!). The resort itself was a charming and well-run family business. The owners are eager to assist, and helped us with scooter hire, delivered to our door. Indeed, in their stunning harbour-front Gallery, they are happy to share a tea and a chat and maybe sell you a carpet! There are plenty of shady, quiet areas to relax and read whilst the pool is a good-size, plenty of space for children to play and adults to relax. There is another pool available, if you want total peace and quiet. Despite being high season for local tourists, the resort being full booked, it never felt crowded (most people were out at the sea or on the boats). The town itself has a lovely vibe in the evenings, with the nightly craft market providing some unusual art! The local Sailing Club provides small sail boats and wind-surfers - able to book lessons for the same day. The out of town Surf Club is for the more serious kite and wind-surfers.

Summary: We’re just back from Datca. We absolutely loved your villa! The style and decoration, the spaciousness, the nice private garden, the atmosphere of the hotelgrounds, the pool, the people from Marphe and off course beautiful Datca. We’ve seen quite something of the surroundings; different beaches, villages, mountains and loved it all. It’s a wonderful and unspoilt place for a relaxed vacation.

Summary: We had a great week stay in the villa in August 2009. The villa was clean, comfortable and had every appliance, except dish washer, we needed. Rooms were large enough and everthing worked well. Since it was set in Marphe Resort, we could able to use resort facilities and lovely environment to enjoy. The locatin of villa was perfect. It was located in a quite place and close to city center, market and sea. The villa was enormous with everything you needed for a comfortable family stay. Go and have a lovely time and totally relax about this beatiful villa.

Summary: I stayed in the villa for just over 5 weeks and could not fault it. The villa itself is beautifully decorated and has everything you would need. It's like a home from home. The villa complex is amazing with a lovely pool and dining area and the staff couldn't do enough for you. Once I got my bearings I found I could walk to the harbour in about 20 minutes which had all the bars and restaurants you would need for a perfect holiday. I would defintely recommend this to anyone thinking of a chilled and relaxed holiday but with amenities close at hand.
