Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We had a wonderful time! The property was spacious and perfect for what we needed. However, there was a lock broken on one of the patio doors and the dishwasher did not work properly all the time. Just wanted to make y’all aware. But all else was in great shape and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Summary: The cabin, overall, was nice. They are slowly updating it, which other reviews mentioned the décor. It didn't bother us. The space and the price were the high contenders for our annual getaway. A big bonus was the water pressure and hot water tank holding up to 10 people plus dishes daily. The kitchen is very well stocked with everything you could ask for. The management company was quick to respond to any questions and concerns. Our biggest concern was the extra house guest(s) who were not included in our price (at least one live mouse, the other was found dead). Another downfall for us (that we didn't pick up on until right before) was no AC. It was noted on the Best of Canaan website more clearly than the VRBO listing where we found this place. Overall, we enjoyed our time together and apart in the mountains.

Reviewer Comments: We loved everything except for no A/C... it got extremely hot 3 days that we were there... but no worries I purchased a fan from DG that kept us fairly cool during the night. The kitchen was well stocked. The kids loved the hot tub and the basement area was a plus.. with the walk-in shower, ping pong table ... very spacious area for the children to play. Nice dining area where we could all 8 of us sit together to eat. From check in to checkout every one was friendly and helpful!

Reviewer Comments: We first booked this cabin in October 2021 because we saw that it had a hot tub on the deck, so the great room kitchen/living space opens right to the deck with the hot tub, all one huge open space which is great for multi-family gatherings. We had such a great time then that we immediately looked to book Traveler's Rest again. It just took until May 2022 for all of our schedules to line up. Second stay every bit as good as the first, it really felt like returning to a second or vacation home.

We have enjoyed all of them. Traveler's Rest was a nice house, could have used a few updates, but was clean and well equipped. Best of Canaan is always responsive if there is a problem (even a small one). We would stay here again.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We loved beautiful WV! The location of the community was perfect for our days of exploring. The house was the perfect size for our family of five, plus a dog! The kids loved the ping pong table and we all loved the hot tub (and used it morning and night!) Dolly Sods is at the back of the community with parking and accessible trails. We watched the sunset there one night. What a view! It was quiet and peaceful in this community. We visited the nearby town of Davis for groceries. There is a shop n save and dollar general there. We also spent many nights at the Ice Cream Shop in Davis. The owner was very friendly and the ice cream is all homemade and so yummy!We would not stay at this house again for a few reasons that might be particular to our family. I share them b/c these are things I would have liked to have known. First of all, the house is in a deeply wooded area, so there's very little sunshine and no view. Not the house's fault, but good to know :) There was very little usable yard for the kids and dog. The house really needed a good cleaning. It was pretty stuffy when we arrived, so we went around opening all of the windows. Two of the bedrooms and the kitchen windows did not even open. Also, the screen doors to the deck did not close properly due to being bent. The house was not cleaned and well maintained in our opinion. The final problem we had may not be a problem for some, but the kitchen was not stocked for cooking. The knives were barely sharp and there was only a tiny cutting board. Again, this may not bother some, but we like to cook so we had to supplement some supplies to get through the week. Just come prepared if you like to cook ;)We loved the area so we drove around to check out other houses on the property that we might enjoy more! There are plenty of options! We did not report every problem mentioned, but when we did email and talk to them about a couple of maintenance issues we saw, the customer service was excellent!
