If you are looking for a paradise to discover all the beauty Costa Rica has to offer, villa Carolina, is the place to be. Villa Carolina is ideal for a short break but also a longer stay is possible.
Situated on 1.3 acres in Santa Eulalia—a rural neighborhood of Atenas—this is a place to truly call home. With steady breezes, cool nights, and the freshest air, tranquility reigns here, inside and out.
The house is very private and the beautiful garden home the numerous species of birds. Toucans. Oropendola´s and Motmots are often spotted.
The two story house is ideal for up to 4 people. On the first floor you will find the kitchen, a nice sitting area and a bedroom with bathroom. On the second floor you will find a lovely sitting room, another bedroom with bathroom and the lovely balcony where you can enjoy the best views..
The large pool is ideal for swimming laps or just to relax, floating around on an airbed
Start your day with a tropical breakfast on the front poarch, overlooking the pool, the lush grounds, sweeping countryside and mountains.
The rancho is the perfect place to relax after a swimm or a day of exploring. Relax in one of the comfortable couches or in one of the hammocks. Fire up the grill and prepare yourself a great dinner. The rancho is also equipped with a cooktop, a fridge and a half bathroom.
The lovely little town of Atenas is only a short drive away and has a wide range of shops, supermarkets and restaurants. The Friday farmers market is very popular. You can´t get any of the local products fresher than there.
Because of it´s central location you can discover everything this beautiful country has to offer. The airport is only 40 minutes away, the beaches an hour and Atenas is the perfect base to explore a lot of the highlights of Costa Rica
Our property managers, Piet and Yvonne Asma, a multilingual (English. Spanish, Dutch and German) couple from the Netherlands are ready to make your stay the best it can be.
As an additional service to our house guests, they offer fee- based airport transfers to help you avoid the potential hassles you can experience in getting from and to the property on your travel days
They also provide car rentals and a variety of tours including daytrips to the Poas volcano, La Paz Waterfall gardens, the very popular organic coffee tour but also various more active tours like ziplining, horseback riding or a private Catamaran Sailing tour.
They can arrange for you to have your fridge stocked with your favorite groceries upon arrival, or have a home cooked meal ready for you on your arrival day. For special occasions they can have a local chef come to the house to prepare a gourmet dinner.

Summary: My husband & I recently spent 6 great weeks at Villa Carolina. The location was perfect for us to make our way into Atenas easily and enabled us to take a number of day trips. The grounds were lovely and provided us with a very private area to bird watch, read and relax each day. The view of the mountains from the balcony was wonderful to wake up & go to bed to each day of our visit. The pool was beautiful & a welcome addition on the warm afternoons we experienced during our stay. The rancho was clean & well equipped for entertaining. The home itself began to feel like “home” for us as it was so comfortable, well stocked and maintained. Wi-Fi worked well throughout the property even poolside. Each of the staff who clean & take care of the property were welcoming & a pleasure to see each week. Hosts Piet & Yvonne were amazing! They both were great resources in making sure we were comfortable & helping us get to know our way around the area. Piet not only took care of our airport transport but also arranged for our rental car to be delivered to Atenas, which made that process less daunting. Yvonne’s meal that she prepared for our 1st evening was delicious & a wonderful introduction to Costa Rican cuisine. We couldn’t have found better hosts anywhere & we hope to see them again someday. Overall, we feel extremely fortunate to have found Villa Carolina, Piet, Yvonne & the charming community of Atenas. Each made leaving Costa Rica difficult and returning a must!

Summary: When we arrived through the gates, and up the tree-lined drive-way, we felt like we were on a movie set. The lush jungle-like setting, with Parrots, Tucans and Butterflies and the modern and comfortable house were lovely, along with the separate BBG Party house and pool area. Hosts Piet and Yvonne were extremely helpful.

Summary: This was a great place to stay during COVID as a winter getaway. The property managers were absolutely great, from arranging for grocery delivery and a minor repair while we were there. The home is very enjoyable and the place cools down each evening. With lush vegetation around it, we enjoyed watching the birds each day and the bats at night. Wonderful place.
