Positive: Quaint and quirky but perfect for our stay. Close to port Ellen.
Negative: The shower doors really need to be replaced and if I’m being picky, the kitchen appliances could do with a spruce up. The bathroom door on one side doesn’t have a lock. It’s things like that which let this place down. Also no hair drier. Otherwise the house is fine, warm and close to town. We enjoyed our stay and actually worked well for our family of four and our friend using the other end of the house.
Summary: Sufficient and warm.

Positive: the cottage was absolutely fabulous walkable distance into location of shops bar and restaurants beautiful sandy beach for our dog and was the reason we also picked this.

Positive: Place was comfortable enough. Not too bad a walk from Port Ellen approx 20 mins. Has plenty of space despite its quirky layout
Negative: Despite being advertised as newly renovated this property requires attention. Broken locks on the toilet doors, locks missing on bedroom doors, broken door frames and shabby fittings. Missing lights in bathroom. Shower quite dirty, doors not fitted properly on the cubicle, low water pressure. Private parking is not on site it is in a passing point that just happens to be outside of the cottage. Also it’s listed that there is a coffee machine, this is incorrect. There is a French press, which is a manual coffee brewer not a machine.
Summary: A comfortable stay in a place worn and requiring repairs

Positive: Nice, cosy accommodation for Islay visit with families & pets - closer to walks, distilleries, beaches & Port Ellen centre for food & groceries. The accommodation had all the essentials handy and the host was very responsive to queries.
Negative: Bathroom was a bit outdated with locks missing, leaky shower & low pressure - needs addressing.

Positive: Convieniently located for Port Ellen and nearby beaches. The lights and heaters were on when we arrived, which we very much appreciated. The kitchen is well equipped with stainless steel pans and all that was needed. A good sized table to sit and eat at. Comfy sitting room. Lovely interior.

Positive: The cottage was spacey. Especially the bedrooms and the living room. Almost everything we needed was there. it was close to port Ellen and very close to the airport. And it was in a quiet area.
Negative: The bathroom, and especially the shower part was really dirty. There was hair on the wall and in the sink. It really needs a good cleaning. One of the kitchen cupboard (the door) was broken and almost fell off. (the small one on the right). A suggestion would be to remove the door and make it the cuttery cupboard. It's now, almost on the floor in one of the lower cupboards which is not so hygienic. One of the bigger casserole has only one handle so, very difficult to use. A smaller one was dirty, so we didn't use it. And we missed a pair of scissors which would be very handy. Maybe it was there but we couldn't find it. The lower cupboards were a bit chaos. In summary: The cottage was oké but really, really needs a better cleaning.
Summary: Good accomodation on a quiet part of Port Ellen.

Positive: The location is well situated to explore the Island. The design is a little quirky ie long and thin, it is comfortable and well equipped.
Negative: Struggled to find the cottage. Note the name on the gate is Upper Imerdval Cottage. Best to use the gps coordinates.
