Relax and enjoy the north woods of Wisconsin from your private two bedroom retreat offering a full bath, screened in porch and complete kitchen. This cute, year round cabin is the perfect place for relaxing. Whether you spend time watching the river flow by, stargazing on crystal clear nights, entertaining friends around a campfire, or taking on more strenuous activities like skiing, snowshoeing, swimming, trout fishing, hiking, and berry picking, this 900 sq. ft. cabin provides a comforting retreat from hectic day-to-day life.
The cabin’s simple layout combines the 16×12 living room with the 15×12 kitchen & dining area. There are 2 carpeted bedrooms and a full bath. The 16×10, 3-season porch adds more living space from spring through fall, including delightful "overflow" sleeping quarters.
Enjoy three lushly wooded acres, your piece of forest heaven, adjacent to the 400-acre Lincoln Community Forest. The large, level backyard contains a big stone fire pit and a couple of hammock-hanging trees. Dry firewood, a charcoal grill, and charcoal are provided.
A gentle, mowed slope leads down to a shallow entry spot on the Marengo river, a DNR-designated trout stream. The rocky river bottom slopes down to a great swimming hole in gentle current just upstream, and riffles downstream. Water shoes are recommended.
Just across the road from the cabin is the main trailhead for 3.5 miles of groomed cross-country skiing and rugged hiking trails in the Lincoln Community Forest, a nonprofit-managed forest property. The LCF is open to public hunting, fishing, non-motorized trail use, and trapping. Forest access is free for all users.
Close by are many popular recreation spots and hidden gems in and around the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest. It's a 15-minute drive to the very popular Morgan Falls and St. Peter's Dome trail and half an hour to Copper Falls State Park. Other nearby gems include the Porcupine Lake Wilderness, Rainbow Lakes Wilderness, Lakes Owen and Namekagon (public recreation areas with beaches), St. Croix National Scenic Riverway, and dozens of miles of ski and mountain bike trails in the Drummond, Rock Lake, North End, and Birkie trail networks.
Spend a day (or five!) hiking through wilderness on the North Country National Scenic Trail, or head half an hour's drive north to relax in the cool breeze of Chequamegon Bay and take in the shops and restaurants in Ashland, the closest big town with all the services and home to the Northern Great Lakes Visitor Center. A further 35 minutes takes you to Bayfield, the Madeline Island ferry, and the gateway to the Apostle Islands National Lakeshore.
Note that this is an older cabin that has some maintenance issues that are not fixable--a windowpane we haven't been able to get replaced, doors that stick a little, inconsistent water pressure. Most guests find it homey; if you are expecting a professionally-run resort, that is not what this is. This is our family cabin that we rent out for as cheap as we can when we're not using it.
There is little cell service and no internet at the cabin. There is no landline available. There was public WiFi at Four Corners Saloon, about a 15 minute drive, but the Saloon is closing and this may no longer be available.

Summary: This cabin was exactly the privacy and lack of inernet/cell service we desperately needed. Spacious enough that we're debating bringing a group next time! Some of the old VHS tapes and equipment/anemities were like a step back in time. Quiet, charming, and within driving distance (30-40 miles) of many great hiking spots and food. Honestly can't wait to come back!

Summary: A quiet little rustic cabin in a perfect location! Right on the ATV trails so we could ride right from the driveway. Peaceful nights by the fire with the sounds of the babbling river right there. No WiFi forced our teens to be present which was amazing!! Over all an outstanding stay that exceeded our expectations. We are already planning when we can go back.

Summary: This little cabin is no frills and exactly what we were looking for. No internet, no phone service, and no tv (other than dvd's and vhs tapes) it was like stepping back in time to before everyone became tethered to technology. The quiet of the woods, and the relaxing sounds of the babbling curtent of the river was amazing.

Summary: Where to begin? Zee has been amazing with communication ( even going through a very hard time) and she was willing to accommodate our needs which made the vacation possible. We were a little nervous being out of service range but it a short drive to get enough for a quick society update or check the weather. We loved the location because we could venture a couple hours both ways and hit all kinds of great spots from Duluth and the north shore to the Porcupine Mts. The cabin is clean and has more than you could imagine you would need. The stars at night were amazing and a short drive to more open fields for full few. Gravel roads but we managed just fine in a car. We would definitely book again and check out some of the more local spots! Will be recommending to friends too! Thank you for giving us a much needed perfect vacation. If you are looking into it just book you won't regret it!!
