Welcome to Hansen’s Cottages! We have two very clean, modern and well appointed cottages (see other listing #814651) that are within *Dutch Village Resort, located on the northeast shores of Mullett Lake, about midway along the famous 45 mile Inland Waterway. You can enjoy boating, sailing, kayaking, fishing or swimming in the crystal clear water or just relax on our 4 acres of manicured lawns. Amenities include 208’ of clean beach front, tether ball, children's play area, community fire pit, cedar lawn swings, 14’ rowboat, paddle boat, 100’ dock w/ lounging patio, boat moorings and GORGEOUS SUNSETS. The lake bottom is firm, clean and sandy ~ there are no drop offs so it is very safe for kids!
We are your "Up North" family vacation destination! Centrally located in Cheboygan, Michigan, we're 15 minutes off I-75, 20 minutes from Mackinaw City & Mackinaw Island ferries and 40 minutes from Petoskey / Harbor City area.
We are situated in a very serene, quiet location on Dutch Village Lane, in a rural lake front community. Wildlife abounds in the adjacent forest and hiking/biking trails. Our community is on a very quiet paved road ~ perfect for the walkers, runners, roller-bladers or bikers in your family. The North East State trail, a reclaimed railroad grade, is only a short walk away.
We are very proud of our cottages. We were able to preserve the nostalgic "up north" feel of the knotty pine interiors and screened-in summer porches, while still providing you with the modern conveniences of home. Both of these 2 bedroom cottages have sofa sleepers and will accommodate 6 people comfortably. EXTRA RATES apply for more than 2 adults - children under 21 are free. Each cottage has pillows & blankets, cable TV, charcoal grill, picnic table and porch furniture. Kitchens are fully equipped with coffee makers, microwaves, toasters, pots & pans, dishes and utensils.
We typically rent weekly in season - Saturday to Saturday. However, we do our best to accommodate those with varying vacation plans. We offer discounted rates for extended stays. Check-in is at 2:00 p.m. and check-out is 10:00 a.m. The cottages are non-smoking. For everyone’s safety, no pets are allowed.
Also, the owner - David Hansen, who is a fishing charter captain, is offering charter services at a discounted rate to our guests! Mullett Lake offers some great fishing, however time of year is important, so if this is something you're interested in, contact me before you choose your dates.

Summary: First, David and his wife, the property owners, are kind, flexible, and communicate promptly and well. They have the perfect small cottage for a romantic get away. It is actually better in person than in the photos. In fact, we are planning to return with our two youngest children. Mullett Lake is an amazing setting for the family and access to the water is very easy from the house. Our favorite thing to do was sit in the wooden bench swing near the water after sunset. The starry sky was beautiful, the breeze of the water relaxing, and the setting very romantic. Just being there brought us closer together (in fact, we became engaged while up there). The neighbors are welcoming, not loud, and everyone seems to smile and resprct one another up there. Plus, location, location, location. There is a state trail nearby worth hiking to Aloha State Park and back. Mackinaw City is 25 minutes away. Cross in the Woods is a 30 minute drive. The best ice cream in the area - Dairy Mart in Indian River - is also a reasonable drive. There's more to see within reasonable driving distance such as Presque Ile Lighthouse (where I proposed). Anyway, if you are looking for a cozy getaway with your partner or small family with access to incredible amenities and many sites, this is the place. Cannot recommend the cottage or David and his wife enough. Enjoy your stay!

Summary: Great location for enjoying a wonderful, inland lake or being a tourist in the tip of the mitt. We did both and had a great time! Very close to Cheboygan and a short drive to "the bridge". When we notified the owner of a vehicle breakdown and late arrival; he made it easy to find the cottage and get in by turning on lights for us. I was really grateful that there was hardly any traffic noise. That can be a distraction when lake homes are close to highways. Two suggestions: A plug on the wall at the head of the bed. C-pap machines and other electronics these days take lots of outlets. A night light in the bathroom to make it easier to get around without waking others at night. I thought I read that kayaks were available, but found out after arrival they are privately owned.

Summary: This rustic cabin reminded me of my childhood going up north. A beautiful spot in the lake, convenient to trails and town. There are other cabins in the property but we’re mostly empty the time of year we went. Cottage was clean, bring towels, sheets , TP, soaps.
