This unit is meant to provide a more peaceful experience. Perfect for adults to relax and spend some quality time while the young ones have fun and enjoy the downstairs area.

"The Rustic Lizard" - Downstairs:
This unit was put together thinking of a modern, cozy place where friends can meet, play pool, watch movies and enjoy.
→Each bedroom has king beds with pillow top mattresses.
→Spacious closets in each room allow plenty of storage.
→Full kitchen is equipped with all the necessities.
→A 55” Smart TV is in the living room along with a regulation size pool table.
→Washer + Dryer is in the half-bath.
A 500 foot crushed granite trail leads down to the Guadalupe river bank. There is a sitting area overlooking the rapids w/ Polywood Adirondack chairs & a propane fire pit. More steps lead down to the river rapids which are about 1-2 foot deep. Perfect for sitting in & relaxing. Tie your tube up to a boulder & relax.
The Guadalupe River is perfect for kayaking. We have partnered w/ Flow Paddle Co in Victoria, Tx. They can provide kayaks and/or transportation. Several options in kayaking are available starting/ending on our river bank. Please contact them directly on Facebook for more details.
Please stay within the fenced area, as we have neighbors on both sides of the house.

Summary: We stayed here over the Thanksgiving holiday. This place was better than expected! I didn’t realize upon booking there are 2 complete kitchens! SCORE! The whole family enjoyed the pool table and tons of games. Every bed was comfie. Every room is temp controlled. The bathrooms are stocked with toiletries. Then there is the outside. It’s a little piece of heaven in DeWitt county. I actually cannot wait to come back and visit this summer. Toes in the water baby!! I highly recommend booking. You will not be disappointed. PS whoever decorated this place did a fantastic job!

Summary: We truly enjoyed our time at the Thomaston River Retreat! The house was gorgeous, clearly much thought and time went into every detail of this home. We were able to reach out directly to the owner for simple questions and he responded very quickly. The set up by the river was wonderful as well. My little girls were able to play on the bank and in the water, as well as the older girls could go up river a bit to tube down the rapids. The area is not crowded or commercial, truly a relaxing get away to a beautiful river.

Summary: Beautiful property! We rented the whole house with a big group of friends. We all had more than enough space to cook and hangout after spending time on the river. Clean space, safe neighborhood, ample parking. If you forgot basic toiletries, it was readily available in the house. Since we were celebrating my fiancés bday, we were lucky to be staying in the luxurious master suite! So so so relaxing! We loved putting our chairs in the river and floating around in our tubes. We did rent kayaks thru Flow Paddle Co. Communication with Justin was fast and responsive. We only wish we could’ve stayed for more than a weekend!

Summary: Everything about the rental and location was just as advertised. The home is exceptionally comfortable and the hosts are very thoughtful about making sure you have everything to enjoy your stay! The property is amazing and the river access is absolutely perfect! Highly recommend this property for a river getaway!!

Summary: Our stay was wonderful! You have one of the best-equipped VRBO houses that we've ever stayed in. The kitchens are so well stocked with utensils, pots and pans and dishes. The beds were comfortable, and the towels were so nice. We had our friends stay in the Elegant Tortoise half. They've never stayed in VRBO housing before and were hesitant about the whole idea. Thank you for helping us gain instant credibility in that area! We kayaked parts of the river from Cuero to Victoria, and your home provided the perfect base for our adventures. Thanks for providing such a nice place to stay. We look forward to more visits in the future.

Summary: Great location on the river. As far as we could see, we had the best spot of any house. There is a little fire pit, a nice "beach" area where the current is not too strong for relaxing. The house is very nice and they had all the extra's you could think of and everything was labeled which made it easy to find. It is a little walk down to the river, but the path makes it super easy and totally worth it.

Summary: This property was absolutely amazing! The pictures honestly do not do this place justice. Every detail about this home is beautiful. Very clean, comfortable, has very well thought out amenities, and the owner was absolutely a pleasure to work with. Justin is so polite and helpful, he made the whole experience just that much better. I can't say enough good things about this place, everyone must experience it for themselves. I highly recommend it!
