7 Bedroom House in Koitiata

Looking for a quiet place where you can rest and relax and sleeps up to 18 people. Like to feel the sea breeze on your face and have only a few minutes’ walk to the beach? Come and stay in this quirky retro environment, 20 mins south of Whanganui and 45 mins North West of Palmerston North.
RedBach Retreat is nestled amongst unique landscaped gardens, the main building containing the communal kitchen and lounge, and a double bedroom. Together with the 6 individual cabins adjoining, there is sleeping accommodation for up to 18 people. All beds have memory foam topper pads, pillows, and quilts. We now have two kitchens and there are two bathrooms and two showers.
Linen and towels are provided. High chair and one porta cot are available on request at no charge. There are numerous outdoor dining and seating areas and a gas BBQ and gas is supplied. There is a cosy warm log fire in the lounge with fire guard for those wintery nights and a fire in the large kitchen area also. All cabins have their own electric heaters and electric blankets.
There is plenty of parking within the property for vehicles. Provision of locked facilities to keep beach toys safe is available on request.
We will allow dogs if agreed on before a booking is made. Stock up on groceries before you come from Whanganui, Marton or Palmerston North as there are no shops in the village of Koitiata. Turakina Service Station is 8 km out on the main road with petrol, diesel, and limited groceries.

Summary: There are 8 adults and 8 children in our family who live in 4 different areas of the North Island. This was a great location for us all to come together. The children absolutely loved the batch and the closeness to the park, fishing and the sea. Very relaxing with enough room and comfortable beds for us all. Barbara the host was friendly and helpful. A great quirky place to chill, read a book and have fun.

Summary: Our family of 2 adults and 2 teens really enjoyed Redbach Retreat. So much space - and the teens loved each having their own cabin! The kitchen(s) had everything we needed for cooking, and we enjoyed sampling some board games from the massive stash of games and books. The beds were okay in terms of comfort (not hotel-grade mattresses, but fine for a bach). We were able to leave our little dog at the bach when we were going out for the day - she was happy to relax in the large, safely enclosed garden. The only downside was that the beach at Koitiata was difficult to access. There is a river that seperates the houses from the beach and you had to wade across to get to the sea. It's a pleasant 20 to 30 minute drive to the town of Whanganui, which is lovey to visit. Nice to have outings to the town and surrounds, but also great to just chill at the bach. Great spot for some quality family time.

Summary: This beautiful family and pet orientated gem is most definitely worth the stay. The Hosts are very accommodating and friendly to deal with. We all thoroughly enjoyed the rustic charm and warmth of the stunning surroundings artistically created by hosts. Thank you. We look forward to returning. Oh and the children loved the arcade :D
