Take advantage of an up North experience in our updated, single level, 3 bed/1 bath home with a spacious, open floor plan, and fully equipped kitchen to meet all your cooking needs. A gas grill is also available. Upper South Long Lake is 800 acres of fun, located just 2 hours north of the Twin Cities and less than 10 min SE of Brainerd.
The Space:
Enjoy full-sun throughout the day and into the evening with our south facing exposure, 100 ft of sandy shoreline, a private sandy beach for the kids, and of course, fishing from the dock will promise to be entertaining. The property’s level elevation, with no sloping or stairs to the lake, make this an easily accessible set up for all ages and abilities. When you are ready for a break from the sun, relax under the large shade trees and enjoy dinner on the deck, while embracing the stunning lake views, the loons, or even an occasional eagle or two! Of course, don’t miss out on evening smores and gatherings around the fire pit.
We have you covered for cool, rainy days inside with a variety of board and card games, puzzles, and plenty of family friendly DVD’s. Or, just snuggle in with your favorite book/ magazine in the secluded 3 season porch.
We have enjoyed sharing out property with others. We only ask that the families that consider choosing to share our home will appreciate and respect it as well. We are looking for responsible adults and/or families only please. Absolutely no parties, no pets and no smoking allowed!

Summary: We loved our week at the Lazy Loon. Such a beautiful cabin and setting. The open kitchen area was perfect for our granddaughter to run around and play in. We enjoyed the comfy deck chairs and the sandy beach and walk in lake were perfect for our time on/near the water. The cabin was clean, well stocked and the beds were comfy. Liked it so much we are booked for next summer too!

Summary: This place was a amazing!! Our family of five, with children ranging from 4,3 and 11 months stayed here for 5 days. It was the perfect size, very clean and fully stocked. Had anything you would need including the most fully stocked kitchen I’ve ever stayed in at a VRBO, laundry already with soap and a garage full of outdoor toys including sand toys, kayak, paddle board, life jackets, wagon, blow up toys, etc. The property was just as pictured, very beautiful and the lot was flat and you really felt like you were on the water. The beach was raked prior to our arrival and was shaded by the backyard trees which again was a bonus during these hot days and little kids. The water is clean and sandy and not very deep which was great for our young crew. It was a quiet neighborhood and the lake was pretty quiet during stay as well. We enjoyed kayaking, swimming, baseball in the yard, cooking big meals and playing games and watching dvds in the evening after the sun when down which were also provided by the property. We want to come back next summer already! Thanks!

Summary: An exceptional lake property! We enjoyed all that is offered. The views are fantastic, the cabin is very clean, well stocked, and comfortable inside and out and the open space. Love the deck furniture, the private dock, and fire pit are awesome amenities. The owners take pride with their property and care about their guests. We would recommend this property for families and anyone looking for a great cabin to stay at. Our hosts are wonderful to work with and are quick to respond to any questions. We cant wait to be back again!

Summary: The Lazy Loon was the perfect amount of relaxation for mid summer. From the minute we checked in it felt like home. The property is newly updated and was immaculately clean. They did not miss a detail as far as linens, pans, utensils, outdoor furniture and so on. Alison and Brent were attentive to our questions and helped us situate our pontoon after a late check in and added family members mid trip. All the neighbors are great, calm, family friendly lake with a sandbar for the kids to swim at the river channel. Clean lake, lovely sand beach and bar/restaurant/resort directly across the lake. Overall wonderful experience for the whole family. Also, one of the best properties as far as description, detail and cleanliness we have ever rented. Thank you Lazy Loon, we hope to be back again!

Summary: I can’t say enough how much we enjoyed this property! It’s just perfect for our small family! 5star communication between the renters, and you will not find a cleaner cabin anywhere!! Our little one loved fishing off the dock and playing in the sand, and already wants to go back. Looking forward to returning!

Summary: What a fantastic lake cabin. We enjoyed the view and spent most of our time either on the deck looking at the lake, on the beach next to the lake, in the lake or on the lake. The cabin was comfortable, clean and well stocked too. We had a week to enjoy it all but we still didn’t want to leave. Can’t wait until our next stay!

Summary: This was our second year in a row staying at the Lazy Lion and we loved it! The house has a great open layout and the patio is perfect to watch the sunset in the evenings. The sandy beach was also nice to have! Overall this is a great place to stay and so close to Brainerd!

Summary: Wonderful! Everything was easy from booking to checkout. The owners were quick with responses leading up to and during our stay. The Lazy Loon was very clean, well-stocked, and beautifully decorated. The layout of the home was perfect for our family of four (two boys ages 2 and 7). There was plenty of room to hang inside to play games or watch movies (provided) as well as space for the boys to play with their own toys. It never felt crowded. The deck offered lots of seating for eating and relaxing. The private dock and fire pit were super nice amenities. Our boys loved playing on the lakeshore in the sand and splashing in the water. It is clear these owners take pride in the property and care about their guests. We would absolutely recommend!

Summary: The cabin has a nice open floor plan for the living, kitchen and dining space. Very nice deck and furniture as well. Especially enjoyed being so close to the lake with a well groomed sand beach and swimming area. We got lucky with great lake weather and enjoyed our August family vacation. Thank you so much!
