This magical 'Little Rivah Cottage' has everything you need for a relaxing casual or romantic getaway. Locally the river is pronounced ‘Rivah’. Watch Osprey’s and water birds right from the deck.
The oversized deck overlooks the large boathouse (bring your 27'+ boat) and dock. Fish right off the dock or use the 2 available sit-on-top fishing kayaks. Dock has an outdoor shower, as well as a sink and hose inside the boathouse.
The cottage interior boasts a comfortable living room with TV (100+ channels on cable & some DVDs), a spacious sunporch with bar top and stools overlooking the creek, and built-in dining table. Though it’s the outdoor space of a large Deck with counter height Adirondack seating, a lower private deck with table & chairs, and the dock – all are peaceful and serene. The stereo has speakers in the home, on the sunporch, and on the deck for your listening pleasure. The detached garage has a full-size Ping Pong table and Bose Wave radio/CD player for added fun.
This ‘little rivah cottage’ is located on a protected (Mechum) creek with sunset views and quick boat access to Rappahannock River. Bring Your Own Boat and or jet skis to tie up in the boathouse and dock. There are marina/public ramps nearby. We have a gravel drive behind the garage where you can park your trailer. The circular driveway also has a lot of room for a boat trailer.
For golfers, the Piankatank River Golf Course is 5.9 miles away. The front nine is tree lined with gentle rolling hills giving you a mountain course feel. On the back nine, the course flattens out with three holes along the magnificent Piankatank River.
NOTE: The water is fairly shallow off the end of the Dock especially at low tide. And being a creek off the river, there is a muddy bottom. AS SUCH, NO DIVING OR JUMPING IS ALLOWED OFF THE DOCK. There is sufficient depth for boats, but it’s not good for jumping, diving or even swimming altogether.
