The farmhouse has been modernised to a high standard to make it comfortable for guests whilst maintaining its original character. It sits adjacent to the owners' main house, a converted barn. It benefits from a modern fitted kitchen, log burner, satellite TV, DVD and Wi-Fi. Both bathrooms have baths, heated towel rails and the one downstairs has a thermostatically controlled shower. There is private parking for 2 cars adjacent to the cottage. Guests have their own entrance through the garden behind the cottage, where there is a patio with tables and chairs, a BBQ and loungers, umbrellas and outdoor sofa for comfortable alfresco living and dining. Included is the use of the owners’ pool which has lovely views and a large terrace with sun beds and umbrellas. The cottage benefits from facing east to make the most of the morning and evening sun, while keeping it cool through the day. With Summers becoming warmer there are also fans available if needed and an efficient mobile air conditioner upstairs. The farmhouse is the perfect starting point for walks or cycle trips through the quiet local lanes to nearby medieval villages. Sainte-Sabine, only a few minutes away by car, has a bakery, post-office and several restaurants, including La Gentilhommière. The cottage is ideally situated for those wanting to enjoy the beauty of the French countryside while being within driving distance of the Dordogne and Vézère valleys, where you can see everything from splendid chateaux to the world-famous cave paintings at Lascaux. For the more energetic, there is kayaking on the Dordogne which we can highly recommend! The wine tours of Bergerac and the town itself (30 minutes away) are well worth a visit as are the local Bastide villages with their shops, restaurants, bars and wonderful weekly markets and summer food festivals.
Bordeaux and Toulouse are both within a 2 hour car journey.

Summary: Tanya was a charming, responsive and supportive host. The little farmhouse is just adjacent to Tanya’s main house, with a private west-facing garden, complete with patio furniture and BBQ. The space consists of an open-plan kitchen / dining / living room space which is spacious enough for 5 people to eat comfortably. The house does get super hot upstairs, even downstairs in the summer months - I recommend closing all the shutters in the house by mid-day, and airing the house out every morning. Tanya provides fans and an AC unit upstairs which makes a bit of a difference. The pool was a welcome relief against the hot temperature, and we were given the use of it during the day. Just an FYI it is behind the main house, a short stroll from the gite. The WiFi is shared with the main house and was quite slow at times, especially when it was being used by the family. Tanya also offers DVDs, basic free British satellite TV and French satellite TV. We had a great stay in the Sud Ouest revisiting old haunts and reconnecting with old friends. The location was ideal for this, 10 minutes from Villereal.

Summary: The location is lovely. Rural, quiet with great views. The pool is large and surrounded by greenery. The house itself was spacious and well equipped. Our own sitting area outside with a bbq. Although rural access to the local towns is easy. The surrounding area is littered with Chateau's, daily markets, a visit to the medieval town of Issigeac a must. A thoroughly enjoyable stay.

Summary: We had a very good time in this house. The surroundings are very quiet and peaceful. We appreciated the landscape around the house. The outdoor patio was nice to eat lunch or dinner with the family. The kids enjoyed being able to play in the swimming pool, surrounded by countryside. Our host was very kind and helpful during our stay.

Summary: We have just returned from 3 weeks in this idyllic spot. Tanya and her children could not have been more welcoming or helpful. The surrounding area was beautiful for cycling and so peaceful. Summary: We have literally just returned from a fortnight in France, then second week we spent here, and it was totally brilliant! The farmhouse was well equipped, comfortable and so so quiet! The pool was just what we needed for those hot days and Tanya was on hand to ask whenever we needed anything. I would thoroughly recommend this property and we hope to return in the future. Summary: See above. The owners who are on site were very welcoming and helpful. The property was clean and well appointed, warm and cool. It was one of the best holidays we have had. The gite is central to all the places we enjoy visiting.

Summary: We spent a wonderful week with Tanya, Tim and family. On arrival we found a fridge and cupboard full of essentials and treats which was a lovely welcome. The house itself is beautifully furnished, very comfortable and supplied with everything you would ever need. Days were filled either visiting villages, in the pool or reading in one of the many garden areas. We had a wonderful time here and would definitely recommend it to others. Tanya also takes yoga sessions which was an added bonus to the holiday.
