Positive: The property and reviews were just as described. "Retreat Cottage" is the perfect name. It is quaint and right on the waters edge. It makes you feel like you stepped back into the 50's or 60's and are going to your summer cottage on the ocean. If you want a modern, new or remodeled house this may not be for you but if you want a clean, quiet get away with seals and sunrises this is for you. It is also close to many of the things on the cape being only about 25-30 minutes to Hyannis for the ferries to Nantucket or Martha's Vineyard, whale watching boats, Plymouth etc. We would definitely stay here again.
Negative: Beds were good and standard but for me this is one of the things that can make a good stay great. I always try to tell property owners and managers to not skimp on the frame and mattresses as one who travels for a living.
Summary: If you need to get away from the busyness of the world this quaint retreat on the waters edge is it

Positive: Great location! Beautiful views! Comfortable beds, plenty of towels, nice place to unwind and enjoy the sounds of seabirds, waves and baby seals.
Negative: Read previous reviews so we knew to bring ice and fans. I’m glad we didn’t come in my daughter’s car. We drove my SUV. The road to the rental is dirt/gravel, quite bumpy with potholes and she would have bottomed out for sure. The house was not spic and span but generally clean. The one exception was the shower. It’s a small shower stall and the curtain was quite moldy on the bottom. The Welcome Book says to not walk on adjacent properties beach at low tide as it’s private property, but I saw a couple people walking past our rental. Was it work the price? Maybe not - but it worked for where we needed to be that weekend.
Summary: Convenient for our trip. Beautiful location, quiet, and comfortable.

Positive: The home was clean, cozy, and comfortable. The view was beautiful and serene. We were grateful for the BBQ and nice beach chairs.
Negative: It needs a dishwasher. Who wants to wash dishes by hand on vacation? It also needs an ice maker. Ice cube trays were broken and who wants to refill ice cube trays and wait hours for more ice? This beach wasn’t swimmable, which of course can’t be changed. But it should state on the website that beach is too rocky for swimming. Property management should provide more shampoo and body wash. Bars of Dove soaps and bottles of shampoo were too tiny for 5 people for 3 nights.
Summary: We had a lovely time. Although the beach is not for swimming, we were able to drive to another beach. The view is beauti

Positive: The view was fantastic, sunrise and moonrise every day! We loved just sitting out on the deck and listening to the seals bicker, the birds poke around in the tidal pools for treats, and the lapping waves. The cottage was super cute and cozy. Would stay there again.
Negative: These are all minor things that, if fixed, would make this place absolutely fantastic. The largest bed in the biggest bedroom was about a foot off the floor and the frame did not fit the mattress so you constantly felt like you were falling out of bed (and we did when we first sat on the end) and the pillows kept falling behind the bed. There are no bed side lights in the main bedroom, so you have to get up out of bed to turn the light on and off. The upstairs toilet leaned to the left and rocked so you felt like you were going to fall off all the time. We were instructed to put our dishes in the dishwasher and were provided with dishwasher tabs, but there was no dishwasher. The only shower is a very very small stall that was extremely hard to properly bathe in, even for the children. This is an easy solve with a removeable shower head with a hose. There is no path or steps to get down to the beach from the house, just a big pile of boulders. The deck is so narrow it is difficult to walk past people who are sitting and the deck chairs dripped rusty water every time they were moved making a mess. The additional fees should just be included in the cost of the rental. I feel this should be the case for all rentals. It's very frustrating to think you are renting a place for one price and then see $900 in extra fees for a three day stay. And I have to say it is rude to charge a $300 cleaning fee and then ask people to start a load of laundry and dishes.
Summary: Had a lovely time, would stay there again, loved the views, place just needs a few tweaks
