Positive: Stunning building and very clean Spacious room, large comfortable bed. Nice bedding and robes. Zainab and another young girl are very sweet, speak good English and are helpful.
Negative: Please note that my comments aren’t meant to criticise, but to raise awareness. A warning that this riad is not for the elderly or those with mobility problems due to steep steps and rooms on four floors. We had the junior suite which was on the top floor. (4th floor) I found the stairs difficult and was offered another room but would be charged to change. Most of the other rooms sleep three so we would be charged accordingly. Nowhere on booking.com did it warn about the steps. The peaceful roof terrace somewhat made up for the difficult climb. This is a communal terrace, not exclusive to the room. (As stated). The riad is not close to the souks or the tanneries - they are a 45 minute walk or taxi ride. Restaurants close by are difficult to find without being taken there by Jamal. Dinner is available in the riad but we felt it was rather expensive - 350 diram (35€)per person as opposed to 37 diram (37€) for two at a nearby riad We found communicating with Jamal rather difficult and he seemed preoccupied. (Even though we speak French) The junior suite is advertised as having a separate living room with sofa. This is not so, there is no separate living room, the sofa is within the bedroom. The other junior suite states there is a balcony - this is an internal balcony overlooking the dining hall and not an outside. The breakfast was average - breads, croissants and baked eggs, but we would have liked fresh fruit and more coffee (only one cup is offered) Rooms are sparse - no glasses or coffee making facilities and no bath towels. No facilities anywhere in the riad to make tea or coffee. Even when the owners knew I was unwell and had to stay in my room all day I was not offered a drink. A mint tea would have been nice. Wi-Fi turns off after each use. Have to log in every time you use your phone. Wifi slow. All in all we didn’t find the riad lived up to most of the reviews.

Positive: If I could give more than 10 points I would because everything exceeded our wildest expectations. The riad has been impeccably restored, and everything is exquisite. Jamal, the owner, Zeynep, his daughter, and Abdel Ali, his faithful assistant, welcomed us with open arms. By the end of our stay, we felt like we were part of one big happy family. They suggested a hidden restaurant no normal tourist could ever find, prepared an unforgettable Moroccan dinner, arranged a budget friendly private tour, helped get our luggage back and forth to the taxi, and decorated our room with rose petals, flowers, and a cake on our anniversary. We feel as though fate directed us to this riad because our relationship with this family has just begun. They have left a lasting impression on our hearts, and we know that we'll see them again. They couldn't have done anymore to help us, and they were an integral part of why we will always remember our time in Fez in the best way possible.

Positive: Riad Jamal has been one of the best experience i ever had. The food and the charme of the family is incredible. They managed to organise every single detail: from the pickup at the airport to the different experiences (tour in the medina of Fez as well the experience in the sahara desert)
