Mackinaw City is a short 20 minute drive from the cottage (or venture to Mackinac Island via boat through the Cheboygan lock!) Downtown Cheboygan is less than 5 miles from the cottage.
During the Winter months, we welcome families, snowmobilers and ice-fishermen alike. The river in front of our cottage freezes over completely, which makes ice-fishing a dream!

Summary: Traveled with the in laws for our annual end of summer/ bridge walk vacation and landed on this gem. I never had to reach out to the owner but she did send me a message about a week prior to the vacation which my family enjoyed. We had 11 people in our group including five under five and the large yard and river were great entertainment for them. We tried to fish a little but it seems like all the fish have been caught in the river but no big deal. The river was quite weedy which was frustrating but obviously not the owners fault. The place was really clean and cared for. We would come back and I would recommend this place to anyone especially if you have a boat. Only about 30 minutes to Mackinaw which was nice and really close to downtown Cheboygan.

Summary: To start, we had a last minute unusual request and the hosts were amazing to work with us regarding it. Second, we arrived super late Sunday night and the check in process was so easy my 12 year old took care of it while we unloaded the car. The house was clean, well prepared, extremely close to everything you could imagine. We all absolutely loved the deck and spent many evenings out there playing board games. My husband said it was the first time he hasn't wanted to go home and wanted to stay on vacation. We will definitely be back!

Summary: This property is amazing in every way! Gorgeous setting on the river with plenty to do. Quiet nights and days spent on the river await you. Close to town for anything you need and a short trip to Mackinaw. Host were communicating every step of the way. We are already planning on booking our next stay here.

Summary: Impeccably clean inside and out, mattresses and pillows were very comfortable and the kitchen is adequately stocked for making simple meals. The only things I missed were a few more serving dishes and wine glasses. There were nice extras that many rentals don’t often have like coffee and all the supplies, enough dish soap to last your stay, laundry detergent and dryer sheets, extra paper towels and toilet paper. As other reviewers have said, the carpeting in the master bath and half of the 2nd bath is not so appealing, but that’s my only complaint. The deck is great and spacious with a table for 6 with umbrella and 2 lounge chairs. The house is in a quiet location with a beautiful view of the river over the huge yard. If you are a boater, the best thing about this house is the DOCK. It’s a relatively new, permanent dock with the 2 “extra” pilings and quality cleats so you can tie up properly and safely with 4 dock lines. The pilings are spaced to accommodate a boat much larger than ours, I’d say more than 30’ no problem. There are a lot of aquatic plants in the Black River, but the water depth at the end of the dock is also sufficient for large boats. The dock is lined on both sides with solar lights that make it easy to find from the water at night and also light your walk back to the house. We had a lovely stay and will definitely keep this property on the short list for future rentals.
