Summary: It was wonderful to stay in a castle in Tuscany no less Every person we met was attentive and kind We were staying near friends and didn’t hang around the grounds much or use the pool but everything seemed well kept It’s really a place to retreat to eat at and sleep at which served our purpose well

Summary: This hotel is unreal. Outrageously nice. The landscape in breathtaking, the staff is incredible, and the restaurant / tasting room is remarkable. The rooms are giant, clean, it's like staying in a giant suite. I had the standard room and I was blown away. The whole place was incredible.

Summary: Beautiful hilltop location, with breathtaking views. Medieval fortress and villa allows one to experience Chianti from a historic and soulful perspective as you walk across cobblestones that have been traversed for centuries. This is not a cookie-cutter hotel setting and we loved it. Our suite was huge, comfortable, quiet and clean, with both a large bedroom and separate large living room. The antique and eclectic furnishings were interesting and the rooms were functional rather than creatively decorated. The hotel provides a rustic and authentic atmosphere more than a luxurious one which, again, we truly enjoyed. There is also a huge area on the top floor for reading, watching TV or just lounging, which leads to a rooftop terrace from which the views and sunsets were stunning. The independently operated restaurant has been beautifully updated which provides an elegant setting for their upscale, perfectly prepared dinner, popular with locals as well as hotel guests. The restaurant collaborates with the hotel to provide breakfast for guests. Theirs is no ordinary bed and breakfast offering, which definitely adds to the value of staying at Rocca di Castagnoli. The estate still operates as a highly-regarded winery and the onsite wine-tasting room and barrel room tour is another plus. Service and congeniality abounds from all staff encountered in the hotel, restaurant and winery. We were happy to be there and sorry when it was time to leave.

Summary: The surprise highlight of our recent family trip to Italy, the Rocca di Castagnoli surpassed all expectations. From our first view of the 12th century castle nestled amongst rolling vineyards, to the warm greeting, elegant rooms, gorgeous pool, super comfortable beds and sweeping views across the valleys from our room, our experience was exceptional. We also enjoyed wonderful food and spectacular local wine in the stunning vaulted-ceilinged restaurant - easily the best we had during our 10 days in Italy. Only regret is that we didn't have more time there and we're already planning our next holiday around this beautiful place!

Summary: It was a great place to stay. It was very clean and we loved the history behind it! We had fun wine tasting there and would definitely go back if it was their busier time. We wanted to get away from the crowded cities. The frustrating things we experienced were that it was their off season (January 1-3) and so their restaurant was closed, our room wasn't cleaned while we were there, and the front office was closed when we showed up. I wish it was stated when we booked that their on-sight restaurant was closed for majority of the year. We were planning on that being open. But, overall it was the quietness and character we were looking for.

Summary: Beautiful views of the countryside complement this stunning castle. Rooms were very clean and provided more than enough space. Fantastic wines and the best food we had in all of Italy! Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Would definitely return.
