Positive: The breakfast exceeded my expectations. It was marvellous. The room was large and the bed was comfortable. The shower room was really good and there were extras like a fridge and milk and water provided every day for tea and coffee and the like. The owners were a lovely couple, friendly and helpful. Couldn't have found a better B and B anywhere. Hope to return.
Negative: T V reception not very good at times but that was nothing to worry us.

Positive: To be perfectly honest , nothing to fault at all . The hosts were superb, total attention to detail , spotless and uber comfortable. Breakfasts were second to none , seriously perfect . Kirstin and Tim could not do enough for their guests , a piece of homemade cake to welcome us , everything we needed , anything we didn’t know we needed and super happy people too ! Total delight !
Negative: We are not the most fanatical about walking uphill and this property proudly stands on the top of west cliff but hey , nothing a taxi can’t solve !!
Summary: Absolutely perfect , would definitely revisit and recommend to anyone

Positive: The guesthouse was very clean and nicely decorated and furnished. Breakfast was excellent and cooked to order so was very fresh and hot. Good range of breakfast cereals. The owners were very friendly. They clearly work hard to maintain the standards. A refrigerator in the room, with fresh milk provided, so no awful long life milk pods which ruin tea for me. The room we had was on the top floor (an attic, so one side of the room was the underside of the sloping roof) and as the day we arrived was one of those near 30 degree summer days we seem to have more of these days, and in the absence of AC (which I wouldn’t expect in a guesthouse anyway), I did expect to have a very hot uncomfortable night. But it wasn’t. The room was not over hot and a good nights sleep was had. Whitby is a nice seaside town, with a good range of pubs, restaurants, fish and chips outlets, and shops. We only used one pub - The Little Angel - and being a couple who appreciate good cask beer, we went on both evenings we were in Whitby. Friendly staff too. Didn’t go in any other pubs, except for the Whitby Brewery tap which was well worth the 199 steps climb. We had excellent fish and chips from Trenchers takeaway and enjoyed them sitting on the pier….twice! Overall, an excellent stay. Would definitely stay again.
Negative: Nothing to not like really that the owners could impact. We did not get the room in the picture, which I did expect from the Booking.com website - not really an issue, but info given for clarity. Our room did not have the alcove created by having a dormer window - the room had a roof light rather than a dormer. Not unusual for a guesthouse in a seaside town that parking was on street, and at the time we were there (end June/beginning July) vacant spaces were very few. Guests are provided with a parking permit (a scratch card) so parking isn’t time restricted (ie can ignore the 3 hour maximum and the like) and is free with the permit.

Positive: We had a wonderful stay at Rosslyn House and couldn't be happier with the experience. From the moment we arrived, the owners were absolutely lovely and made us feel so welcome. We mentioned it was our honeymoon, and to our surprise, they had thoughtfully decorated our room with a balloon and a banner — such a kind and personal touch that really meant a lot to us. They were incredibly polite and helpful throughout our stay. When we asked for recommendations on where to go and what to see, they took the time to explain everything clearly and gave us great suggestions. The breakfast each morning was excellent, with a nice variety to choose from — cereals, fresh fruit, yoghurt, and a delicious cooked breakfast that set us up perfectly for the day ahead. Overall, Rosslyn House was the perfect place for our honeymoon, and we’re so grateful for the warm hospitality. We wouldn’t hesitate to return or recommend it to others!
