Summary: This property is in a lovely, mostly quiet, residential area not far from restaurants and shops. (Some neighbors seemed to be gearing up for a party one night but all was quiet by 9:30 PM.) The walk to the business district was pleasant and less than 1 mile. Staff at the hotel was very friendly and accommodating. The room and surroundings were clean and comfortable, fine for the price. Ohakune is a short drive from Tongariro National Park and refreshingly uncrowded. Restaurant choices were varied and plentiful. Bonus: a nice view of Ruapehu mountain from the hotel’s neighborhood! We would stay here again.
