The villa is set within the unspoilt countryside of the Algarve overlooking orange groves and the Monchique mountains. It is away from the crowded tourist areas but all local attractions like water parks and beaches are just a short drive away. Access to the villa on arrival is by a keysafe so there is no person-to-person contact. Fibre Optic Internet/Wi-Fi and UK/EU TV channels provided. It is now possible to have shopping delivered to the villa by the Apolonia and Continente supermarkets. The villa has air-conditioning for the summer months and underfloor heating for the winter months. The rural area is popular with walkers and close to the Algarve Way. For golfers the villa is also close to the Amendoeira and Silves Golf courses. For motor racing and Formula 1 lovers the Autodromo do Algarve is approximately 30 minutes’ drive from the villa. The Monchique mountains are to the north and the beautiful beaches to the south.
The villa has a magnificent 5m x 9m solar heated swimming pool with automatic pool cover and a large sunbathing terrace. This also has a supplementary heat pump to heat the pool during the cooler months, at an additional cost of £20 a night.
The villa is fully compliant with all safety and legal regulations as required by the Portuguese Tourist Board. Alojamento Local (AL) Registration No.163215/AL.
The living accommodation is spacious and comfortable and has plenty of modern conveniences to make your holiday as relaxing as possible. All rooms have underfloor heating, secure lockable windows/patio doors with mosquito screens and shutters.
We have recently finished a small adjoining extension to the villa that can provide a private, lockable space for grandparents or friends from a different family. It comprises of a living room with large TV and Bedroom 3 with en-suite bathroom. The bedroom and living area have patio doors to the pool terrace. This area is only available when you book the main villa. The main villa containing the master bedroom and twin bedroom is priced on an occupancy of up to 4 people. Guests wishing to use Bedroom 3, with the en-suite facilities, are charged £60 per night for the room. To ensure that you are not charged double please book for 5 people and inform us how many guests will be using the room. The camp/chair beds are only suitable for children and are charged at £12 per child per night. Please enquire if your party has additional children using the camp beds so the website prices can be adjusted.
The upstairs of the garage has a play room with a seating area and snooker/pool or table tennis table. There is also a full-size outdoor table tennis table and table football. There is free unlimited Fibre Optic Internet access and television including Portuguese, English and Sport channels. It is easily accessible from Faro airport (40 minutes). For your convenience car hire is highly recommended. Poço Barreto is the closest village (2km), with a railway station, a small supermarket and some bars. Just a short drive from the villa is the historic town of Silves dominated by its XII Century Castle, with its Roman Bridge, traditional food market, and good choice of shops, restaurants and bars. Silves is also famous for the Medieval Festival held for 10 days in August. There are two large supermarkets, open 7 days a week till 10pm.

Summary: This is our second visit to this villa. The property is beautiful and well-maintained. Summary: Where to begin, when we booked this villa we were blown away by the photos and descriptions provided by the owners as well as the reviews of other guests, however nothing can really do justice to staying here in person. The Villa has got to be hands down the best I’ve ever stayed in. The attention to detail by the owners is incredible they really have thought of everything and there is nothing you could want for. Communication at all stages with the owner was excellent both before our arrival giving us loads of information and directions to assist our safe entry. Then the list of restaurants and days out as well as information on local attractions and places to visit was great. On arrival a welcome parcel of some snacks and drinks were gratefully received and after arriving so late meant breakfast was all in hand the following day without having to leave. The villa itself is spectacular we love the fact the location is remote enough to have the peace and quiet with spectacular views all around but then still not far to get to anything. The pool was amazing and a great temperature all day round meant if you wanted there was no reason to ever leave the Villa. I can’t recommend this place highly enough and we will definitely be returning in the future this area of Portugal is fantastic and our stay at Casa Amendoeira Velha was 5 star.

Summary: We had a great experience in the Algarve and in the villa. We knew that it is a bit remote, so a (rental) car is required. There’s plenty of great restaurants nearby though. The swimming pool is just fantastic, we had a great time! There’s always something that can fail in any house and so that happened during our visit. It’s how that is being dealt with that makes all the difference. Within 30 minutes, the handyman arrived at the house and immediately started to fix the problem while we were going out on a tour. We absolutely enjoyed our stay and would love to come back some day!

Summary: Lovely property in a very quiet rural area. With a car you are able to access everywhere in no time at all. I'd say it's the nicest and most complete rental I have ever stayed at. Excellent communication from booking to leaving, everything worked and it felt like an honour to be there. Would recommend this spacious and very well equipped rental for every occasion. Just spent a week there with my 6 year old son. Fantastic.

Summary: Second time at this villa and once again not disappointed. This property has had some improvement on it and this has just added to how good this property is for families.
