Horokiwi Cottage | Rural Bach in the Capital

1 Bedroom Cottage in Horokiwi, Wellington CBD

Self-contained affordable cottage in rural settings Spacious for 2, still enough space for 4 adults, extra kids ok. Freeview TV + Free Wi-Fi. Pine forest and native bush for kids to play with plenty of space to explore.
Incredibly private, surrounded by pine forest. 100% rural, yet only 15 minutes drive from Wellington CBD.
Quite warm now with heat pump, log burner and oil heater so you'll be cosy even on coldest days.
Please note this is rural and somehow quirky bach, not a hotel. If you prefer humming city and 4+ star accommodation you might enjoy more staying in one of Wellington hotels. This is reasonably priced bach for people who like outdoors and rural. No public transport nearby (closest bus stop 4km walk over hills) and the nearest shop is about 15km return trip. The access road from the highway (last 5-8minutes) is windy uphill but quite scenic after you pass the quarry.
Air bed, porta cot, spare mattresses and more extras available on request (usually free), just ask.

Summary: We hardly spent any time in the bach, it was just a place to lay down our heads close to the city but a great budget option. It was great for what we needed but found the big bed a little too hard and struggled to get the water temp in the shower manageable. Overall a good option with everything you need, small windy road to the property but a good city location.

Summary: Great value for money and a welcome respite after a long day. For some, the drive up and down the hill might be an issue, although we found it exhilarating for the views. May be a problem for a van or large vehicle, you're sharing the narrow road with the occasional logging truck. Would stay there again.

Summary: We enjoyed our stay in this little homely bach, loved the oldschool look gave alot of nostalgic vibes which me and my family enjoyed, the bach was on its own and surrounded by beautiful nature where we got to explore and go for a little bush walk. Only thing that was a downfall was the WiFi stopped working after our first night but that's okay we got to have alot of time with our kids rather then being on our devices. I would book here again if we ever come down to Wellington again.. Thank you to the hosts for making the communication easy for us and giving us our privacy. We really appreciate it and hope to come down again. Love from the Kishore 🙂
