Enjoy peaceful, light-filled pastoral views from this charming 19th century home, completely rebuilt from the ground up in 2011. Currently there is a large fenced-in area for dogs that will be replaced with a stone patio for outdoor relaxation.
Ancram is a small town in rural Columbia County (under 2 hrs to NYC). The home is in a countryside setting surrounded by nature, working farms and summer camps. The town of West Copake is a 6 minute drive and offers a general store, deli and pizza parlor, wine shop, gas station and retro diner.
This home is set back from a main country road, so there is light car traffic. I do not find it loud, but there is a noise machine just in case of any light sleepers.

Summary: The house is a pretty and comfortable space with a very accommodating owner. I had a large crowd for Thanksgiving and needed extra beds for some of them. It worked out perfectly.

Summary: Alexa’s house is charming, very well designed, comfortable and efficient. The backyard fence is perfect for pets to limit their excursions into nature. The house gets very hot during summer heat waves and, given it’s remote location, would benefit from a pool. Alexa is in the process of landscaping the property, which promises to be lovely — a flower garden? It’s perfect during summer rain storms for reading and movies. IBut it’s remote location necessitates a solid half hour drive for ice cream, swimming, dining, and hiking, which gets tiresome. Garbage disposal is a challenge as the dump is restrictive (I needed specific bags) and recycling requires a permit. If possible, I carried my trash back to the city. The water is well water, which has a high iron content (naturally). Alexa provides a Brita filter and I would recommend it’s use. Alexa was lovely, responsive, and helpful.

Summary: Alexa’s home was the perfect country getaway for us and our dog. We felt instantly comfortable and the space was clean and well-equipped. The only part that could’ve been better was a finished patio - which was under construction during our stay. It didn’t bother us much though. The patio is going to be fabulous once it’s done! Alexa was also a great host and responded quickly. We will definitely stay again with our dog so that we can take full advantage of the backyard!

Summary: Alexa's house is super comfortable, very nicely decorated, has a great layout, feels spacious and open but still offers separate spaces, with two living room areas and one very nice dining spot open to the kitchen and one of the living rooms. The house was recently redone and feels modern and inviting.
