Summary: It's a cute cabin on a beautiful lake but whoever does maintenance needs to make sure its ready for the next guest. The paddle boat was full of brackish water so was not used. When it dropped into the 40's, we couldn't get the propane wall heater to turn on. We figure out the next day that it was turned off outside. When we turned it on, the smell was horrible and the smoke alarm went off so we didn't use it. We ended up closing off the bedrooms and using a small radiant heater to warm up the cottage and tried sleeping on the pull out sofa. Not a great night's sleep. We ended up leaving a day early. I tried to contact the host but couldn't figure out how without internet and poor cell phone service. The posting should also mention that the shower is only about 3'x3' making it a challenge for a large person. This was our 1st time using VRBO and we learned that if it doesn't tell you bedding and towels are provided, they aren't! We never had that issue at other sites. Noting it in the listing or in the reminder email would have helped. Again, it's a cute cottage, good location, great lake, and reserving and checking in were easy but it wasn't our best get away.

Summary: We loved the location. The landscaping was beautiful. The cabin was ok. Yes, it was rustic as the listing stated, but it also was in need of a good clean… especially the kitchen and all of the utensils, drawers, pots and pans. Also, we came by airplane, and missed the note that linens weren’t provided. For this price, sheets, blankets, pillows and towels would have been nice. We also had to buy extra garbage bags. The window above the bunk bed leaked making it difficult to sleep in that bed. The shower curtain was moldy, but the owner quickly got us a new shower curtain when we mentioned it. With a good deep clean and some maintenance and extra amenities, this cabin would be 5 stars.
