Nestled on 44 acres of rolling hills, open prairies and hardwood forests, Prevailing Winds Lodge is the perfect place to enjoy privacy and peace. Whether you come to relax and unwind in the cozy guest rooms or explore the miles of on-site trails, your stay will leave you wanting more. From the moment you ascend the tree lined driveway, you will be transported to back-country Colorado by the whispering pines and full log lodge. Just 30 minutes outside of Madison, the lodge is located in Blue Mounds, Wisconsin and has views of the beautiful Blue Mound State Park and Brigham County Park.
WEDDINGS: Serenity, nature, privacy and peace are just a few things you'll experience on your wedding day at the lodge. Built in 1996, the lodge offers an unparalleled experience in guest comfort, relaxation areas and outdoor activities. Attention to detail was the mantra of the craftsman who forged the lodge to include reclaimed wood countertops, a local barn wood mantle, coins integrated in the hardwood floors which mirror the American Club Resort in Kohler, a handcrafted moose and elk antler chandelier, a Michael Feeney carved dragon and full chinking between every log.
Inside the lodge you will be enamored by the soaring great room which features a 30-foot field stone fireplace, handmade Craftsman-style cabinetry, a 1904 Indian Girl canoe hanging overhead, a 9 foot reclaimed Russian Oak dining table and attractive antiques. Outside the lodge you will be rejuvenated by the fresh air and peaceful privacy of over 40 acres.

Summary: Our law firm chose Prevailing Winds for a retreat and it provided the perfect setting to conduct business and relax. Secluded, yet close enough the quaint town of Mt. Horeb and Madison for the football game. The hosts were wonderful and provided as assistance with everything we needed.

Summary: This place is really something special. It's built to host a lot of people, and it does it well. The kitchen was stocked with more than we expected (pots, pans, plates, glasses, etc.), the rooms had all the furnishings, the firepits all had wood; we really didn't have to do anything additional other than arrive and have a good time. Great host too - responded within the hour to inquiries.

Summary: The property was gorgeous. More importantly, the host was OUTSTANDING. Steve was extremely helpful, texting me each morning asking if we needed anything. He was very helpful in providing places to eat, things to do, and provide general information regarding the weekend! We were in town for the Alabama-Wisconsin game! He made us feel very welcomed!! The place, the host and the experience were all First Class!! Thank you Steve, and thank you Prevailing Winds Lodge!! PS-Definitely try out Hi Point Steakhouse for dinner and Driftless Social for the Martinis!! Friendly staffs and great atmosphere!!

Summary: Prevailing Winds Lodge was perfect for our group of guys. First of all, Jen and Steve were incredibly responsive and proactive with asking if we needed anything all weekend, so thank you to them for their hospitality. We had 16 guys stay, which was just the right amount. The whole setup is perfect with the large comfortable couch, multiple large dining areas, several lightweight Adirondack chairs, etc. We made steaks on the grill and played a 8 vs. 8 softball game on the land. Check out instructions were not burdensome at all and easy to do. The lodge is clean and feels very updated. Thanks again to Jen and Steve!

Summary: We had a small family reunion at this property. It was very spacious with plenty of different areas, inside and out, to socialize. The area around the house was fun for the younger crew to explore. The hosts were very prompt in communication and with any requests we had during our stay. Would highly recommend if you're looking to spend time in a secluded setting with a large group!

Summary: The house was amazing! It is as described in the listing. We had a wonferful time. There is plenty of room on the driveway, if you're a big group with multiple vehicles. The location is great and very well secluded. We would love to go again!

Summary: Our families had an amazing time at this home. It was perfectly setup for 5 families with beds for 16. Fully equipped kitchen with plenty of dishes, glasses, and cookware to host our 4 night stay. The check-in process added a welcoming touch and the owner stayed in contact throughout our stay, and was 100% responsive to our needs. The fireplace was amazing and there was plenty of cut, dry wood to burn. I highly recommended this home for your next visit near Madison or New Glarus!

Summary: We were a party of 14 and everyone slept comfortably. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook at home. The property and house were beautiful. Pictures didn't do it justice. The hosts couldn't have been more helpful from beginning to end. Highly recommend this rental.

Summary: This was such a great stay! The property is beautiful. You know you've arrived someplace special right away: the long driveway winds through a lovely little wood with a stream and delivers you to the front door of the lodge. The lodge is spectacular. Comfortable and spacious with a fabulous kitchen and great beds. Our hosts were so thoughtful - they checked in to make sure our visit was going well, left us a welcome basket with goodies to celebrate our daughter's graduation, and accommodated our 8:45 pm arrival time with such generosity (thank you Karo!). We enjoyed the fire pit just steps from the front door, the welcoming front porch, and particularly loved our twilight walk up to the meadow with it's sweeping views of pasture and sky. There were visits from deer who bedded down for the night in the ferns just steps away from the house and a plump woodchuck in the field along the driveway. Mourning doves and all sorts of birds provided birdsong. Coyotes sang at night. The whole weekend felt restful and magical. Highly recommend.
