Positive: Excellent location, lots of space for a cottage in the conservation area. Everything we needed was provided. We are looking forward to staying again, next time we head down to Deal. Would recommend Samphire without hesitation to our family and friends.

Negative: Nothing at all. However, as stated in the description, guests with small children or mobility challenges should be aware of the very steep and narrow stairwells (which we loved!).

Summary: Can’t wait to stay again, next time we’re in Deal.

Positive: Lovely old building, interesting furnishings and very close to the sea! Reasonably priced for the town centre. Nice little courtyard, kitchen well equipped, comfy sofas and big space. Could fit everyone in comfortably.

Negative: Stairs incredibly steep (to be expected in such an old building but was a bit tricky for Grandma) and would expect some shower gel etc in somewhere that cost that much per night. Deposit not noted in the booking notes on here.

Positive: The cottage was like a home from home. Beautifully decorated in keeping with the lovingly maintained period features, including sloping floors and very steep narrow stairs. Accommodation is on four floors and there was a space for everyone to relax, children, adults and grandparents. Short distance from beach, shops and attractions.

Negative: Parking was expensive close by so we had to find a free space further away and if it was a good space, not move the car! The steep stairs could have been difficult for less nimble people.

Positive: We loved this nice little house with a surprisingly large amount of space. Very well kept and charming, antique interior. The house had more to offer than we would have hoped for, also having a bathroom and a separate toilet. The location was perfect - walking distance to the town centre, 2 min. to a calm and clean pebble beach and many restaurants and pubs around.

Negative: There was not much to complain about. Some sharp kitchen knives might be a good addition. That's really all the negatives I can think of.

Summary: We had a wonderful time in Deal and would consider coming back.

Positive: Location, quite central. Character filled house. Owner very communicative. Floorboards spoke to us.

Negative: Stairs could be an issue for the quite elderly or infants. Require a bassinet. Stored our six cases in the entry lounge area as wouldn't try to get them upstairs. Worked ok.

Positive: Nice sized accommodation. We liked the conservatory-style breakfast room. The lower floor TV and seating were excellent. The house was warm and cosy. Really nice feel to the whole house.

Negative: No parking - not that you can do anything about that. We parked about 400yds away on every day - seemed perfectly safe - and we could unload the car right outside the property. The stairs were steep which did not bother us but it might cause problems to the less mobile. A better screen for the shower would have been useful.

Summary: Overall a really good property for a fair price. We enjoyed our stay enormously.

Positive: The property is in a great location, easily walkable to the shops, seafront, restaurants and pubs. The house had everything we needed for our short stay. We particularly enjoyed having breakfast in the conservatory each morning. Cath provided all the information necessary - the parking map was particularly helpful - and we managed to visit a couple of the recommended pubs too! We had never been to Deal before and can't wait to go back again now!

Negative: I cannot think of anything we did not like! The spiral staircases were a bit of a surprise, especially for our 70+ and 80+ parents, but they got used to them.
