Positive: Loved the cottage and all the facilities. Very cosy and beautiful appearance.
Negative: When we arrived, we were allocated the wrong cabin and pin. We we were locked out for nearly two hours as their is no staff at the office and the number on the office door was not answered. We spoke to another lovely lady who works in Melbourne. Although I was stressed after driving for three hours, she was very helpful. We were allowed to stay two hrs extra with no charge. Overall, it was a really peaceful and comfortable stay.

Positive: We loved he peace and serenity of the property. We loved the treed driveway, its goats in the paddock, the wonderful garden and lake setting. The bed was super comfy.
Negative: The beautiful property felt like it was a little neglected. The cottage could be updated, but was perfectly serviceable and very comfortable. The pool area was fabulous, but really needed cleaning, and there is a very blocked spouting, possibly causing water damage to the house. It would have been nice to have some milk left in the fridge, even long-life. We still felt it was a lovely, even magical place to stay regardless.

Positive: Peaceful location on huge, spacious property. Small lake with lots of birds and frogs. Quite private from the other cottages on site.
Negative: I referred to the cottage website http://www.sanctuarypark.com.au/ which is clearly out of date. We stayed at this property in 2013 when it was deserving of 4 stars, but now in 2024 it would be closer to 1-2 star due to age and being run down. The grounds looked neglected and unkempt with overgrown grass and lots of weeds. The carpet in Lakeview Cottage could do with a deep clean. On one windy night, the double glass doors blew open as they are not very secure. (They were wide open when we arrived, though the security mesh doors were locked). The only breakfast provisions were tea and coffee, but no milk. An ironing board was provided, but no iron. The bathroom is newish and very nice, but in order to open and close the bathroom curtain, one has to climb into the low spa bath. After making my booking on Booking.com, I was messaged by unknown phone numbers, one possibly being from overseas, so I rang the cottage number on http://www.sanctuarypark.com.au/ to verify who was contacting me (no one answered, but I got a return call from an unknown phone number, which was that of Stayau, the manager of the property). They wanted my email address to send booking details. Doesn't Booking.com already have this? There is no mention on Booking.com that this property is managed by a third party company, and that Stayau insist on photo ID being provided before the key code is given. This requirement was only revealed by Stayau one day before arrival.
Summary: Nice cottage in lovely location, but rundown, and stressful booking process

Negative: the kitchen was basic, just lacked small items that would of made cooking and our stay more comfortable. only 1 wine glass, no extra pantry items like sauce. A salad bowl.
