Unforgettable holiday for 1 to 2 families on a secluded, private and safe swimming beach. Beach front property with drive on access. Tar sealed main drive in 2012. Modern cabins surrounded in native bush. Birds, glow-worms, fish in Bay. Dinghy, 3 kayaks, and lifejackets are included.
Karamarina Bay is a private bay located roughly halfway between Te Mahia and Portage (both are 10 minutes drive away).
FACILITIES
Separate units are nestled within lush native bush on an extensive beachside property. Kowhai Cabin (sleeps 4 in 2 rooms: queen and twin) and the Chalet (sleeps 6 in 3 rooms: queen, twin and bunk with ensuite and tea and coffee making facilities) an independent dining/ living area, and an independent kitchen and bathroom facility. 3 kayaks and dinghy, lifejackets and a 2 tonne and 3 tonne mooring included. Excellent filtered drinking water. Two fridges / freezers and beer fridge, gas oven and hob, dishwasher and washing machine, gas BBQ with hood, 2 TVs and CD and DVD players.
Your booking will ensure EXCLUSIVE use of all facilities.
Portage Hotel just 10 minutes drive away has a restaurant, snapper bar, and boat ramp, Te Mahia offers great coffee's.
ACTIVITIES
The location is ideal for swimming, snapper fishing, water skiing, sailing, kayaking, biking and walking or simply lying on the sunny and sheltered north facing beach. Queen Charlotte Track and Mistletoe Bay nature trails nearby.
WILDLIFE
In the bay you will find: Weka, Morepork, Tui, Bell birds, Quail, Glow-worms, forest weta, mussels, crabs and starfish.

CHRISTCHURCH 6 hours, NELSON 2 hours, BLENHEIM 1.5 hours,
HAVELOCK 50 minutes, LINKWATER 35 minutes.

Please park at the top carpark and check the property before driving down any lower than the Kowhai Cabin area. (4WD only beyond this point)
This is a waterfront property with sandy sheltered beach. All day sun, wonderful views. Dinghy, and 3 kayaks, lifejackets and two 2 tonne moorings available if you have a speed boat or similar. Excellent filtered drinking water. Two fridge / freezers and one beer fridge, gas oven and hob, Gas BBQ with hood.
NOTE: Under Kiwi bach tradition you are expected to: Clean all areas and do the dishes before you leave; Bring your own linen (towels/sheets/tea towels);
As this property is a hillside property it is not suitable for wheel chairs or prams.

Summary: Beautiful place to unwind and relax. We had a bit of rain yet enjoyed ourselves still. Fishing, kayaking and rowing round the beautiful area was just lovely. We had a 9 month old with us so if coming back again would definitely wait a couple of years for her to be good on her feet although was still very enjoyable

Summary: Wonderful location, very peaceful and private. Enjoyed the views from the dining room. Facilities were great and had everything we needed. We did not use the Kowhai cabin. Was a lovely stepped walk through the bush between the different buildings. Kids enjoyed using the kayaks. Really loved our stay and would highly recommend if looking for a tranquil getaway.

Summary: Good value for money, lovely secluded beach, comfy beds - was a little dubious about the separate spaces to sleep cook and eat in but all works really well and very well set up - lots of passive heat in the dining area and great views Easy drive to Portage resort, and water taxis for day walks on the Queen Charlotte track Access to sit on top kayaks which we took out for a two hour paddle and saw seals Jill is great to deal with Thank you!

Summary: We arrived after dark but managed OK finding our way around. It was quite fun negotiating the steps through the bush and finding the various buildings. Waking to bellbirds warbling and discovering the landscape in the morning was lovely. I very taken with the plantings and trees all so well-kept. We could watch the bellbirds on the fuchsia flowers from our bed in the mornings. The beach is great and the children had so much fun exploring and digging and generally mucking around the rocks. We found it great for the kind of holiday where you just relax and read and ponder and eat and go fishing. We tried fishing from the rocks but it wasn't successful, just got snagged. Taking the dinghy out was good though and we caught plenty of fish. Remember to take squid bait! We had kahawai, snapper and mackerel - delicious! Being out on the glassy water in a boat was one of the best experiences of the holiday. It really is a very scenic spot. We could hear morepork calling from all the way across the sound at night, and the stars were incredible. As for the facilities, we found them fine. Everyone loved the shower and we were all happy with the beds. There was plenty of fridge space and cupboard space and the kitchen facilities were perfectly adequate. We didn't spend much time in there on cooking anyway. It's quite a drive to the shop so bring enough milk and bread and don't run short like we did! Oh yes and there's a weka that comes to say hello at the kitchen - that was pretty cool. Overall we had a brilliant holiday here and felt recharged when we got home again. Thank you for sharing your little piece of paradise with us!

Summary: This was such a treat for our family holiday... swimming, kayaks, escape from hustle and bustle. Jill was just great, from booking right through the stay. Though the beach is shared with her family, everyone was so lovely and welcoming, it feels just like a private beach. We actually loved the higgledy paths that take you from sleeping quarters to kitchen and up to the light and airy dining space. Comfy sofa was perhaps the only thing missing, but we were all too busy enjoying the abundance of nature on the doorstep to miss that much! Thanks so much Jill for sharing your haven and having us to stay.
