Summary: About a year before the April 8, 2024 eclipse we started searching for a house in the path of totality. The Scarlata Family Cabin fit our needs perfectly. There is a long deck with a beautiful view of the White River, suitable for star -gazing under clear skies, bird watching, seeing the planes land at Gaston’s resort and just relaxing. Bulls shoals is near-by with boating and hiking. The trout fishing is world class. The house has a very functional kitchen and is well-equipped. There is a comfortable central seating area and a dining room table that easily fits eight. The outdoor gas grill is located conveniently off the kitchen. The water is hot for showers and the beds are comfortable. The lower level is another spot to play games and watch TV. The laundry room is on the main floor. Upstairs there are 4 beds. The only drawback is no bathroom on that level. Otherwise it’s quiet and restful. We found the house clean and welcoming. Hence it was exactly what we wanted.
