Unique barn style lodging with a fifty foot porch and private fishing pier on Carancahua Bay. Located on a working cattle ranch (Some Beach Ranch). Includes large commercial cooking and sitting area. Includes a pool table and a large hot tub. Come watch the sunrise, pelicans, porpoises, and fish from the pier or go kayaking for redfish. Our miniature donkeys, Betty and Hazel, love a carrot or two. A great place to relax and get away!!
Visit nearby Port Lavaca, 15 minute drive. Stop by lighthouse beach for friendly kid activities, or shop for souvenirs in old downtown. Has several restaurants.
Visit nearby Palacios, 20 minute drive. Walk the two mile long seawall, visit the largest shrimping port in Texas, visit the Petite La Belle 1/2 replica of the La Salle shipwreck discovered in Matagorda Bay or walk the several lighted public fishing piers.

Summary: This place was exceptional! It had everything I needed for a fantastic stay, a well appointed kitchen, washer & dryer, comfortable beds, friendly hosts, and even adorable and friendly donkeys to feed carrots!

Summary: Spacious and immaculate place to relax. Sit in a rocking chair on the shaded porch and gaze at the bay, or try your hand at a little fishing and crabbing. TVs and a pool table, plus some puzzles and games if the weather turns against you. Even nicer than the photos show! We will definitely return.

Summary: What a wonderful and private place to stay, even with the Coronavirus issues going on. Lodge is very comfortable and well stocked. Charlie and Darlene were excellent hosts and checked with us frequently to make sure we had everything we needed. Charlie was also very helpful in accommodating our reservation changes. Hope we can return to Some Beach Ranch again some time in the future.

Summary: Everything was ready when we arrived and Charlie checked in a few times to make sure we had everything. The barn was very clean and stocked with plenty of utensils and sundry items. There is a private downstairs room connecting to the bathroom with two twin beds and six beds upstairs. A TV both downstairs and up. While it is fairly open, the loft is situated to where you can be active and playing pool downstairs without disturbing someone upstairs. There is plenty of seating both outdoors and iThe hot tub is clean and works well and at night has a beautiful view of stars and the bay. We were so pleased with the stay we hardly wanted to leave to do anything else. We will be back. The sunrises are beautiful and the sense of seclusion was perfect. Thank y’all!

Summary: Even though the wind blew the whole week and put a serious dent in kayaking and fishing, we still had a great time! The "barndo" is well situated between Palacios and Port Lavaca and we had plenty to keep us busy. Still caught fish off the dock, just not the kind you normally eat (ex. gar). Lots of fun this week!
