For us The Barnyard is a labor of love. We spent most of 2022 and 2023 renovating the property and getting it ready to share. Our vision is for The Barnyard to become a destination unlike any other in the area. We want it to be a unique place where the world can be shut out behind 14 acres of Douglas firs, blackberry bushes and grassy meadows, and yet be close to all that the area has to offer: the University, the mountains, the rivers, the restaurants, and the wineries. We continue to work to make it as comfortable and well appointed as possible without losing the rugged and unfussy nature of the place.
Be one of the first to experience this house, barn and forest property. We’d be absolutely delighted to have you be our guest!
Couple of things to consider before booking:
Our goal for your stay at The Barnyard is for you to thoroughly enjoy your stay. Experience has shown that good communications makes for good outcomes. In your booking request, please tell us about yourself and your group...
-expectations for your stay on the property
-any special needs
-age group categories
-favorite forest creature (optional): deer, turkey, fox, bear, leopard, banana slug, barn mouse or...?
Cameras: For added security, there are cameras in several OUTDOOR areas of the property (main gate, driveway, barn, house). Some of these cameras include floodlights, 2 way audio, and motion detection of people, vehicles and wildlife.
Super Easy Checkout:
We don't require the usual checkout chores like stripping beds, starting laundry, dishwasher loading, emptying trash, washing windows.
At checkout time, just grab your stuff and go!
About the "Host" fee on the pricing details...This is where VRBO lumps fees like cleaning and pet fees, etc. Our cleaning fee, currently 490 for the entire stay--and the lions share of the Host fee, reflects the higher cost of getting really awesome and thorough, professional cleaners for this rural property. We've had the same crew for over 3 years and we are confident that you will love their work.
SORRY, NO SPECIAL EVENTS AT THIS TIME.
If there is anything else you'd like to know about the property or the area, please ask. We hope to have the honor of hosting your next stay in the Eugene area!
Warm regards,
Stephen & Suzanne

Summary: We came to Eugene to visit our son and his wife and two young kids. Our other son and partner joined us and we brought my husband’s mother. This house was perfect for us. The single floor layout was great for the kids, ages 1 and 3, and 82 year old grandma. The privacy of the house was great. The kitchen was well equipped for making Thanksgiving dinner. Being dog friendly was a plus for us. The owners were easy to communicate with and welcomed us to have our local son and family over. We greatly appreciated their hospitality. This wonderful place helped ys have a simple and wonderful holiday.

Summary: It’s going to be hard to find a cuter place than this one! This house is nestled in the woods just outside of Eugene. It was spotless and luxurious which was a perfect respite during the three days spent at Nike Outdoor Nationals. We couldn’t believe all of the special touches - every detail was thought of. I wish we could have stayed much longer to enjoy the property more. We highly recommend this place!

Summary: The Barnyard is a beautiful property. From its spacious, efficient and well appointed kitchen, to the bedrooms and bathrooms, our hosts thought of everything. Our dogs loved the property, too! It was a wonderful place to stay for the weekend, although I wish we could’ve stayed longer. In short, the Barnyard rocks!

Summary: We recently met up with friends at the Barnyard and had a great stay. From the time we arrived we felt right at home with everything we could possibly need- and then some! So much thought was put into this place; from snacks on arrival, fully stocked cabinets and dishes, to the toothbrush and toothpaste if you forgot yours. When we stayed in, there were plenty of charging stations for all our devices, solid internet connection, living room had a great TV with lots of seating (and great nature watching from the big front windows!), there’s a table big enough for meals and games. We loved grabbing a glass of wine and heading to the deck that overlooks the barn and wooded area, with super comfy chairs and amazing BBQ grill that we used - a lot! We also got out and visited nearby Owen Rose Garden and Mount Pisgah Arboretum, hiked waterfalls, had dinner, wine tasted and shopped in Eugene. It’s a great place to stay in/hang out or get out and explore the area! Stephen and Suzanne are great hosts and were always available to answer our questions and make recommendations. Thank you for a memorable stay!

Summary: From booking to checkout, every aspect was nothing short of fabulous! The “Barnyard” is incredibly appointed with every amenity visitors could ever need. The kitchen is beautiful and welcoming and lacks for nothing in terms of cooking and serving, and, in fact, has many extras! The bedrooms are comfy with plenty of storage and cozy touches. The bathrooms are well appointed and include such touches as tooth brushes and razors for those guests who may have forgotten an essential or two. The property was well maintained and full of deer who visited us daily. We would highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for a family getaway, dropping students off for university, or events such as weddings. The owners provided us with many local options for dining, shopping, hiking, rafting and exploring. We will definitely be back, hopefully with more family next time!

Summary: I stayed at the barnyard with my family (husband and 4 kids, ages 4-11) and both sets of grandparents. One of our sons participated in the USATF Junior Olympics at Hayward Field which was an easy drive that took less than 20 mins. This place is stunning and perfect in every aspect! My kids kept saying how great it was and rate it way over 5 stars! And the grandparents felt the same way. The entire place is high end from appliances, to comfortable beds, to an amazing entryway/mud room. The patio with comfortable furniture was the favorite place to hang out. It was enjoyed for drinking coffee, reading books, playing games and for the grandparents to enjoy the tranquility while my husband and I put kids to bed! The Barnyard is well cared for and beyond clean. The owners have made sure you will be comfortable and have supplied everything you could possibly need. They also were great to communicate with and even shared recommendations on places to venture out to. If you are looking for a place to stay near Eugene I can’t recommend this place enough. We were all sad to see our time come to an end. We will definitely book again if we make it back to the Eugene area.

Summary: My family (wife, 8 year old daughter and in-laws) spent 5 magical days on this property. Host communication was excellent. I’ve worked as a chef throughout the US, so I loved that the kitchen was so well equipped for real cooking. Property was convenient to everything we wanted to do…the hiking, river rafting, waterfalls and a trip to the coast. We saw deer, turkeys and quail out the windows and watched the sun and moon rise over the barn. We will definitely look forward to visiting this property again!! Thank you for the memories Stephen & Suzanne!
