Casa Do Capitao is an attractive two bedroom semi detached villa positioned at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac on a small development in Ferragudo. With a large secluded garden overlooking open countryside and a private pool, our villa sets itself apart from the rest.
We have owned the property since 2017 and have invested in making this our second home. The villa has air conditioning and heating for cooler months, pool heating, Wi-Fi with internet TV, fitted mosquito nets and electric shutters. There are sun-beds with umbrellas and outside tables and chairs. We have also added a traditional Portuguese bbq.
Both bathrooms have walk in showers and heated towel rails, with the upstairs bathroom having underfloor heating and a bath. The light and airy master bedroom has a super-king bed, with sliding doors onto a balcony with table and chairs. The second bedroom has twin beds, with sliding doors onto a Juliet balcony. The modern kitchen Is fully equipped, including fridge freezer, microwave, oven, second fridge for drinks, and a coffee machine.
The property is completely fenced and gated and is accessed through electric gates.
There is an optional additional charge for air conditioning/heating at ยฃ85 per week and ยฃ125 per week for pool heating. A damage deposit of ยฃ400 will be requested prior to your arrival.
Ferragudo is a charming traditional fishing village situated on the eastern side of the river Arade. The village has developed over the years but keeps its natural charm whilst offering all the services that visitors today demand. On the opposite side of the estuary and accessed by water taxi is the well-known resort of Praia da Rocha and the town and marina of Portimรฃo.
Ferragudo offers everything for a relaxing holiday and has an historic central square and quaint cobbled alleyways. The village is very well positioned for shopping, golf, tennis, soft sand beaches and other places of interest and activities. The main beach (Praia Grande) is a10 minute walk and is excellent for children. There are 4 restaurants on the beach. The Nau Bar is open all day into the evening with live music most nights in the high season. Sun loungers, umbrellas, paddle boards and pedalos are all available to rent.
There is a paved footpath from the villa that offers a short cut down to the village road with cafรฉs, various eateries, a general store with a butcher counter and a chemist all less than a 5 minutes walk away. A couple of minutes further along the village is the central square where you will find many bars and restaurants.

Summary: The property was in a great location, easy to get to and central to local shopping areas. The pool was very nice and well worth paying extra to have it heated for the kids. The homeowner (host) and property management staff were great to interact with.

Summary: The accommodation is beautifully situated, well equipped and leaves (almost) nothing to be desired. The beach with a nice restaurant/bar is only a few minutes away, as are the bars and restaurants in Ferragudo. You can shop in various large supermarkets in the neighboring town (maybe 10 minutes by car) We felt very comfortable. We felt very comfortable. However, I would recommend the landlord to replace some of the kitchen utensils (pots, pans, knives) once to make it perfect.We were there from 21.12.2024 to 03.01.2025. Gladly again.

Summary: We had a fabulous week in Ferragudo. The Villa is beautiful - spotlessly clean, tastefully decorated and in a lovely corner spot; not overlooked and itโ€™s secure around the perimeter so we didnโ€™t have to worry about the children getting out! The pool was great and there were some inflatables too - hours of fun for the kids. We considered hiring a car but didnโ€™t need it in the end. Itโ€™s a short distance to the town / restaurants and only 15 minsโ€™ walk to the beach. Ferragudo itself we found charming. It strikes a good balance between being unspoilt by tourists but still having everything you need (nice restaurants, a few good shops, boat tours etc). It was also a great experience communicating with the Villa managers, Rosemary and Nicola, who were on hand to help, and the owners, Paul and Katy, who gave us helpful advice, including the best local restaurants to try. The cleaning lady, Maria, was so friendly too. The lovely welcome and these personal touches were the icing on the cake - we hope to return!

Summary: Myself, my wife and my daughter stayed in this beautiful villa for two weeks this July. I have given the villa a 5 star rating and it really is. The villa is beautifully decorated with every amenity you could possibly need when on holiday. The pool area and gardens are fabulous. All sun loungers and parasols are of the finest quality. The location is superb....a 10 min stroll to the town centre. If you're looking for a two bed villa with it's own pool close to Ferragudo town centre then look no further.

Summary: From the moment we entered the villa we felt at home. There was everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The bedrooms are light and airy with comfy bedding. The kitchen is fully equipped with everything you would need. Outside is a lovely well kept garden and the swimming pool is the perfect size. Your 10 minutes walk from a lovely beach and great restaurants only 5 minutes away. Needless to say we will definitely return. Thank you so much for allowing us to stay in your lovely villa

Summary: We had an amazing stay in this villa. Such a gorgeous setting with wonderful views of the countryside and so quiet. Within walking distance of town centre and beaches and lovely cliff top walks. The villa is clean and modern with comfortable beds and furniture. Bathrooms both modern and clean. Th gardens and pool area are absolutely stunning. We are keen gardeners ourselves and it was such a treat sitting and relaxing and enjoying the flowers and plants. Thanks Katy and Paul for letting us stay. Communication has been excellent. I hope we can stay again soon.

Summary: 1. Great location 2. Walkable to many wonderful restaurants 3. Walkable to a small but well stocked grocery store. 4. Beautiful yard with great views 5. Pool is clean and easy to use. I recommend paying to have it heated. 6. The town is small, charming and not over run with tourists. 7. Unless your stay is short, you need a car. The only downside is the property is devoid of any kitchen food basics. No salt, not a single roll of paper towels, a roll of toilet paper, no pepper or basic spices. In other words, plan on an immediate grocery store trip to a well stocked store.

Summary: A lovely property in the lovely coastal resort of Farragudo. Ideally positioned a short distance away from the main hub and beach. Pool was lovely. We found it was great value for money. The management of the check in was very professional. The opportunity to pre order some shopping was liked. The only downside from our side was that other than the limited shopping we pre-ordered there were no additional touches e.g. welcome wine, hand soap, extra loo rolls, kitchen roll etc. so found we had to go shopping on the first day anyway! Appreciate it is 'self catering' but we would have preferred to pay a little more and had the added touches. But minor point!
